Im excited to say i just picked up my first ever compressor from sears. 60 gal Craftsman. Was priced ~$750 but was on sale for 500 so i said what the heck, why not.

Before i go out and buy all the other accessories i wanted to get input from thsoe with years of experience with these things...

I do as much work to my cars as i can myself short of welding and painting. What do i really need to get for now ? I am thinking the following:

- 50 or 100 ft hose - what diameter? How does length/dia effect the use of the air tools, if any? I'd like the hose to reach out into the driveway and all around the garage (2 car garage).
- 3/8 in. gun. Not sure if i need a 1/2 in. I can buy a coupler to go from 3/8 to 1/2 for the larger things. Or should i also get a 1/2 in?
- same goes for a rachet... 3/8 or 1/2?
- anything else you guys know that is handy?

A good 1/2 impact ratchet, 3/8 air ratchet, cut off tool, die grinder, angle die grinder (to clean old gasket material), & a blow gun. I like those little air saws too.

 

get 2 50' flexzilla air hoses 1 50' air hose should reach in your garage if its not heated otherwise red rubber air hose will be fine. get 3/8 and 1/2 inch ingersoll rand titanium impact guns you wont be let down! the rest you have to figure out as you go. the ingersoll is expensive but it very good dont buy cheap impacts they wont work well if at all. good silver socket work fine till you get into 3/4.

 

I forget the name of the kit, but there is a PVC-type air system you can get, & add to it as you want.

Connect to the compressor then run the PVC however you like, then put your hose connections anywhere.

Sorry I don't remember the name, I've seen it on HOT ROD TV, 2 GUYS GARAGE, etc.

 

My garage is heated. I was almost thinking of just running a 100 ft Line. And just using that for everything for now. I thought of the PvC line setup with two hose fittings but still not sure of I need that. If I do that then I can do the 50 ft hose. Price will determine what I do I guess.
