LS Swap alt. mount

I had an idea to place my alt. in the ac comp. location... I was considering running it off of the ac belt on the crank pully. I dont plan on having a tensioner but instead using the alt. as the tensioner. Do yall think this will clear everything? Sorry about the pics, when i upload them it rotates them for some reason....

Re: LS Swap alt. mount

things are really tight down there, which is why a lot of guys have to notch the kmember for ac. your + post would probably be in the kmember and that's a pretty big short you don't want

Re: LS Swap alt. mount

any reason you don't want to just use the f-body alternator mount like hundreds have done?

Re: LS Swap alt. mount

I am running truck acc. Power sterring pump is in the way... I have been thinking about pulling the powersterring pump off my camaro and tryen to make it work on the ls motor. I was going to try and mount it in the stock f body location and put the alt under it.

Re: LS Swap alt. mount

Update....

I just ordered the alt. and ps. brackets for a 2011 ls3 camaro. I dont know if my alt. is going to bolt up the same but if it will, i will use it and try to figure somthin out on the ps pump. If i cant make a 4th gen, 3rd gen, or truck pump fit in it i might scrap that idea and try somthin els. I thought about ordering a 5th gen pump but they are $100 and i dont know if my line will screw into it and if it has too much or not enuff pressure. I really dont want to just start throwin $$$ at this but if it works it might help out us folks running truck acc. I have herd that the ls3 (l99 has same brackets) has the truck acc. spacing is why i am tryen this.... We will find out.
