Re: reverse hood

not as of now and it just got dark ill take some tomorrow the only thing ive noticed is its a little flemsy in the rear by the cowl at high speeds; had to relocate washer fluid and coolant reservoirs cut out the fenders slightly to clear the hinges when they're closed, the hinges came from a older buick, the front holes actually bolted right into the existing fender bolt holes, however bolting the hood to the hinges was a task i had two buddies balancing it on the hinges while i self tapped some screws from hinge to hood then welded to reinforce and stabilize after all our hoods arnt feather weights

note: the hinges line up with the molding bulges on either side of the hood, takes some fabricating but for something that only cost me $17 at a junk yard and took a few hours to do (never done a hood like this before) you'd think it was meant to be.

had to also cut some of the bulging molding marks from under the hood to clear the hinges when its closed, i was quite surprised it actually closed more flush with the front bumper than before also the lever latch and spring we're removed the bar on the hinges has enough tension on it to give the hood a little bump when you pop it.

also you have to extend the bump stops to avoid hitting the nose of the bumper but only by a half inch.

Re: reverse hood

How did you determine the location where the hinges would mount to the hood, to know where to put those screws you used?

Re: reverse hood

the hard way lol crawled under it and marked the open holes from the previous bolts, this i mind you was very difficult and im a small guy then i thought about it and measured down my fender from the the corner of the eye socket wich came to i believe 17" and then 3 1/2" over measured and marked on the hood and the balancing game began so there was some luck involved there.

Re: reverse hood

That's really cool, but I'm a bit confused...How the hell do you get it open?(assuming it locks)

Re: reverse hood

still using the stock hood latch minus the release lever tooth thing, just pull up from there rear of the hood much like you would a corvette

yes it locks quite nicely

Re: reverse hood

So the rear is not actually held down by anything besides the weight of the hood? Wouldn't work good for a fiberglass hood & even with steel, I just wonder how much air lift is coming up from underneath at speed.

rear hood pins would solve that issue.

Think about how the hood comes down & slides backwards as the hinges close. So hood pins are not a solution. But grabbing the Buick factory latches & transplanting them as well. Or custom fab your own version of it.

Re: reverse hood

yeah i was planning on putting pins on the inside of the fenders and fabing up prongs on the hood to fork around them to keep it held down
