Quarter panel removal
Hey All,
I have a donor car that I am cutting the quarter panels out of.
What can I use to cut them out? Any suggestions...
I have 4.5 in grinder - this will consume many wheels
I have a reciprocating saw - I think this is the opportune choice but I am concerned about the saw tearing and wrecking the pieces - is this something I need to worry about
Is a plasma cutter overkill...
Others??
Thanks
Paul

They do make a cut off wheel for your grinder that should work pretty well.

Thanks for the reply.
I have cut off discs and do use them but I wonder if they may be consumed very quickly. That is an option.

Nice clean cut would be worth using up some cut off wheels IMO.

Cutoff disks will be cheaper than saw blades because you'll also go through a lot of saw blades.
If you watch any of the car shows on TV where they're cutting out panels etc for rust repair, it's always done with cutoff wheels. Saw blades can cause too much damage. Plasma cutter is too hot and will warp your donor metal.
The only time you would need saw blades or plasma cutter is if you're in an area where a cutoff wheel can't access.
