Custom airbox idea (good or bad?)
So I was looking through ideas for a cold air intake, and some looked good but were for camaros, and others were expensive. So I decided I'll give it a try and make my own. I just wanted to get some input as to how my idea stands in terms of practicality and functionality. I was thinking of making an air dam and sticking it under the car, behind the left side of the front bumper and in front of the front left wheel. It would be barely visible, but enough that it could take in a good amount of cold, outside air. From this air dam it would travel (through a pipe/duct of some sort, not metal) up the inside of the front left fender and out the opening into the engine bay, into the stock airbox. I don't have any welding stuff but I can do pretty much all that seems to be required for this job, or I think I can at least. I cut and taped some cardboard so you could get an idea as to what I'm trying to do, let me know if you guys think it would work, and how well it would work.

Nevermind just used some vacuum hoses and attachments, this scoop attaches to a hose and goes directly to the stock airbox where the filter is. Also i could add another scoop, there is room. I plan on covering the intake with some type of mesh also so rocks etc dont destroy the filter.

here's how i got me some ram air after swapping a carbed 305 into the place where a 2.8 V6 originally lived..

it's a factory 305 Camaro air cleaner housing with the puny stock snorkel cut off and replaced with a snorkel from a late 70's car or truck that is pointing straight ahead and held together with self tapping sheetmetal screws. the stock 2.8 air cleaner lid doesn't have the filters or any baffles under it any more and gets pressurized air from in front of the radiator.. the carb gets so cold going down the road that i'm having problems finding a happy place to set the choke where it runs good cold and doesn't have a 2000 rpm idle after going 5 miles down the road...

Nice, that hose running off the side is part of it too, and is that a camaro or firebird. Also I'd love to not have to worry about MAF parts and have a direct flow of air like that haha.
