mustang 2 front end

has anyone tried to put a long arm short arm front suspension in a 3rg gen camaro. i have a mustang 2 front suspension from a tube chaise and am going to tru to mock it up on my new project car when i pull the motor. i think i can use the factory lower control arm attach the mustang 2 spindle and upper control arm then cut a hole in the wheal well and attach the upper control arm to a custom made bracket that i will mount to the boxed out front subframe just inside the wheal well. i think i can drill vertically through the subframe and use some tubing to make a sleeve so i don't crush it when i bolt a bracket on to it that will serve as the upper control arm mounting location. the benefits of anti dive and camber gain will be worth the fab time if it will fit and i can get the geometry right. im worried about header and steering shaft clearance. anyone done this or have any suggestions???

Saw a thread recently, perhaps in suspension, about a guy working (for over a year now) on a corvette front suspension mod.

Re: mustang 2 front end

The problem with adapting most a-arm suspension to the 3rd and 4th gen front ends is that the top of the frame rail is very high. The upper a-arm would be more in alignment if it was mounted to the top of the k-member above the spring pocket. Mounting the upper arm to the top of the frame will have the angle of the arm pointing down towards the upper ball joint. This would cause a very undesirable positive camber curve as the suspension compressed while going through a corner.

Re: mustang 2 front end

someone built a 3rd gen for either Chumpcar or Lemons and used G body upper control arms and (i think) Caprice spindles.. the build thread is on this very site somewhere.
