Seat brackets for Corbeau A4's
OK, I know this is pretty simple stuff. I'm not turning my F-body into a mid-engine super car or anything. I just built custom seat brackets for my Corbeau A4 seats. When I put Forza's into my '96 Formula I used the Corbeau mounting brackets, but they put the seats too high for helmet-to-ceiling clearance. So, for my '88, I built custom brackets that put the seats as low as possible. The disadvantage is that there's no adjustment at all, because the slides would have added height. I also included a bar for the crotch strap to wrap around.

Seat mounts look like they should be easy to make, but to do them right take's time. Good work.

Thanks. You're right, the final product is very simple. Building the bracket was surprisingly time-consuming, though, because the seat blocks access to everything. It's almost a trial-and-error process.

Looks good. Is the anti submarine belt attaching to the seat mount legal? Guess it depends on what sactioning body you race under.

Re: Seat brackets for Corbeau A4's
Good question. The BBORR rule book states (VI C. 4.), "Mounting Points must be at, or on, the Roll Cage, frame member or body panel...If mounted to the body panel, adequate spreader plates or large spreader washers should be used."
This is somewhat vague. I know my setup will pass tech inspection, so the more important question is if it's safe. Can those factory seat mounting posts handle all the force of the crotch strap pulling up on them in an accident? I'm counting on those posts to hold my seat in place in an accident, so hopefully they're fairly sturdy. Strong enough? I don't know.
I suppose I could weld and/or bolt a big bar to the floor, just for the crotch strap. That would probably be better. Of course, if I had a roll cage, the seat and belts would be mounted entirely to the cage.
