nitrous bottle location

Hey fellow thirdgeners I dunno if this is the right spot for this question but here goes anyways. I wanna put my nitrous bottle in the trunk section just behind the back seat. What I am not sure of is how close is the gas tank to the bottom of the car? Its looks close from underneath. I don't wanna shoot screws into the tank trying to mount the bottle brackets. I also don't wanna put it down inside the lower part back there. It would be a little harder to fill and plus I want people to see it as I'm passing them

Re: nitrous bottle location

weld bolts to the floor and use a nut to secure the bottle mounts. The tank will get punctured if you run screws through the floor.

Re: nitrous bottle location

Now why didn't I think of that LOL thanks for The info. Gonna custom bend a blow down tube to go to the lower section and through the floor there for that part of the fab.

Got it installed Thanks again for the advise. Now only thing I am wondering about the bottle being there is how hot will the sun make it? Anyone else have there bottle in that area?

Re: nitrous bottle location

You don't leave it in there all the time or in direct sunlight on hot day

Re: nitrous bottle location

Also you shouldn't mount it sideways. Point the valve towards the engine

I don't think that matters much on the smaller shots of nitrous. Biggest key is the angle of the bottle; which the brackets make correct as long as he keeps it pointing outlet end down.

Do not leave the bottle their in the sun. That back glass gets very hot and will pop the burst valve on your tank when it builds up enough pressure. I've always mounted them in the trunk and flipped that factory "trunk cover" back over it... not only does it conceal the bottle but it keeps it out of the heat.

Re: nitrous bottle location

you want the siphon tube to stay coverd on the launch/take off. it's best to keep the bottel in line with the car. front to back.
works better when the bottel is getting low.
never had a prob. but my car is always inside. or at the track.

Re: nitrous bottle location

I am only running a 75 shot of nitrous and I am not going over 100 shot most likely. I can see how mounting it towards the front can help with low bottles, but I am not going to be consistently Drag Racing. I do wanna take it to the Track to see what it can do in the 1/4 mile, but I mainly will be hitting the car shows. So I think I will leave it where its at. I may have to buy a separate bottle and keep it empty just to leave in there for looks.

You'll be fine. We ran an 11 second car with the bottle sideways.

Just don't forget in most states it is illegal to have the bottle hooked up while on the road. You can have it in the vehicle as long as it's not plumbed into the bottle.
