Access panel maneuvering

So I bit the bullet and cut an access panel in my 91 z28 because the fuel pump just recently went out. (Some background info before judging- I dont have a garage, I dont have a driveway, minimal tools, I am at least 40 miles from the closest usable garage Im 20 and unemployed trying to get my only car running so I can get on my feet. If you disagree with my access panel, you can just move right along).

So the panel is cut and all, but im having troubles getting the assembly out. Ive heard you can cut the panel bigger or cut the lines. Neither of which are pleasant. I also heard lowering the gas tank enough to wiggle it out, but that doesnt seem like a streetside friendly job.

Does anyone have any advice? *

Re: Access panel maneuvering

If I was you I would bite the bullet and drop the tank. I know it's going to suck, but it might save you from really messing up your car. That's just my two cents though...

Re: Access panel maneuvering

You have to cut the lines if you cut access panel no way to get it apart without doing so.

Re: Access panel maneuvering

The lines run all the way under the drivers back seat. You'd cut the whole rear hump out to get the lines out intact from above

Re: Access panel maneuvering

You have to cut the lines and go back with high pressure fuel line and fuel injection hose clamps to connect them together.
