82-84 z28 front spoiler on 85-90 nose
I have an 84 Z28 that the previous owner put 85-92 GFX and nose on. I purchased the 84 GFX spoiler (with the louvres), and am in the process of fabricating it to fit. Has anyone done this? All the threads suggest replacing the entire nose, however from the test fits I have done; it looks like only minor modifications are required. Any comments/ help would be appreciated.
P.S. before we get into the "why's" here are my reasons:
1. I plan to do an engine swap and this will improve cooling at speed dramatically, as the current spoiler obstructs the air dam
2. I like how it looks
Thanks!

Don't know of anyone doing that.I myself did the opposite, sort of.
Besides, don't they bolt on different (vert Vs horiz)? The early style is also much shorter on the sides.Later years had longer airdams that hung below the GFX to compensate for the lower GFX

Yes they do mount vert instead of horiz. I didn't want to cut up the peice in case it was a hopeless cause so I took the old spoiler off and did a bunch of measurements and it looks like it will fit without much trouble....seems three inches shorter (vertically) but I don't think he switched out the sides so it will look ok.
My car is lowered, and I'm not sure if the later air dam will fit, but I am doing this for looks also. I plan to cut flaps and fold them down so the bolts can go through horizontally, the next issue is the space in the front under the grill, I bought a grill hoping to cover some of the gap, but may have to make a small piece to fit there.
Aside from that, I'm hoping that there's not a problem with the later nose being bigger, but measuring from the corner bolts to the lower front fender bolts it seems like it will fit
Any knowledge would be helpful

Green fits
Pink is cuts for flaps
Blue is gap
Orange is flap mount location

Instead of cutting horizontal mounting flaps could you just make some simple "L" brackets from 1x1 aluminum or steel. Worried about the urethane tearing over time. For the center gap filler, maybe an LED light strip???
Are you keeping the OE air inlet behind the grill or are you sealing off the underside of the nose and forcing all air to enter through the grille. If the later you will need to remove the license plate mount from center of grille to get enough air flow.
I have a '83 Z with the OE nose and chin spoiler. I am also utilizing the lower vents and have ducted all air through the grille into the radiator. With the license plate area removed and utilizing the lower vents I figure I have about 230 sq in for air intake. I will lose some of this when wire mesh grille is installed.
