Any ideas on modifying factory TPI air filter housing?
I did a search but couldn't find a ton of info on modifying or cutting "windows" in the factory TPI air filter housing for more air flow, particularly the canister style on the 88'-89' MAF cars. I saw the tech article mentions it and apparently the TPIS insider tips went over it as well... I am trying to maintain a "stock" appearance so I am not interested in the CAI kits with exposed filters etc.

Yeah, you basically window the can, cutting a few rectangles, vertically, out of the can.

Cool, that’s kind of what I thought but I pictured them horizontal in my mind for some reason. I’m tossing around a few options for this. Kinda thinking of outlining a rock auto magnet or 2 on 3 sides of the canister going vertical as you mentioned and cutting them out.
