I am all about the 93-97 Ram Air style. Although that double bubble is looking nice..just needs to be a bit taller though. I would like to see a C5-R hood with the heat extractor opening in the center...but our cars don't have a steep enough slope to pull it off.

I have to go with the Ram Air II Hood. There is just something about the big 4th gen. nostrils on a 3rd gen. bird.

Power Bulge or RA2

And I have the plate taken out. Not sure if it really does anything. Keeps the engine nice and cold, and sounds pretty mean!!

My "deceased" Firebird I used to have originally came with just a plain stock hood. I swapped it for a GTA "nostril" hood. Then I whacked the front right corner on a guardrail cause I was (am?) a bit of a donkey. Next I got an entire nose (both fenders, bumper cover, headlight assemblies, and hood) for $75 in RI from a guy with a junk yard in his farm. That hood had the power bulge and it looked sweet! My current car (15th Anniversary Trans Am) originally came with a functional power bulge and graphics on the bulge itself. However it is in rough shape and I have to bring it back to its original glory...

Side Note:
That nasty looking hood bra thing was promptly removed a few blocks after leaving the guy's house from whom I bought the car...

Forget Fiberglass, I picked up an ALUMINUM powerbuldge hood ... I traded it for some stuff tho But all is well, I think he got the better part of the bargain, but I am not unhappy, I would do it again .

From the description these folks have a Formula Fiberglas hood

heres a vote for one i didnt see yet.. works if yours is carb or the EFI setup from edelbrock, which i might do just so I can make this hood.

My hood... But with a shaker... i think they tried to repro it in 89-90(?) but it wasnt effective, they just took a shaker and glued it to the top of the hood... I think it would look BAD@$$ with a functional shaker hood....

10 SECOND HARWOOD HOODS !!!!!!!!!!

I was having trouble getting my car to get out of it's own way than I installed this HAR-WOOD hood, now I strike "FEAR" in non-GM hearts or for that matter "EVERYONE". If you must see this hood/ "red 82 TA" than you will have to do a little work. Go to intensephotos.com, than capitol raceway, than August 7 page 1

Did the power bulge come in aluminum or maybe stainless steel, from the factory. I have one on my car. You can lift the whole hood up with 1 hand easily, when it is off the car. It came off of an 83 TA.

Yes, I think they were only offered in 1982 early on, before the physical 1982 year. I had one, paid $15 bux for one, traded it for some stuff...

When you open your hood, is there a large "A" on the bottom side? Some of the Aluminum hoods had it and some did not.

oddly enough the part number does not distinguish it from a steel hood from the same year. I have a steel hood that had the same part number

I have to go with the power bulge and on my car (83 T/A) it's functional- but with an LG4 that's not saying much. Also, the powerbulge hood came on the Firehawk, which has to be everybody's pick for best third gen car produced.

I love the 2" cowl on the 3rd gen firebird, it looks AMAZING. The transam hood (with the two vents at the front, and 2 on the side) looks great as well.

Any idea who selles 2" cowl hoods for a 92 Firebird?

Right here:

www.gtfiberglass.com

They are one of the sponsors of this board. They sell a kit so that that hood will be fully functional.

Charcoal, which company did you buy yours from? I'm very interested to see as many more pics as you care to share, and hear your impressions about fit and finish, whether the hood impairs vision at all etc. Looks pretty awesome.

I'll take some more pictures as soon as I can, I moved and don't have my digital camera anymore. I bought it from RamAirhood.com , it fits fine, of course just like any of them they're not perfect, especially if you've had a front end collision, then the bumper and hood don't line up everywhere untill you line it up. What I wasn't sure of is whether it needed weather stripping at the windsheild part or not, I havn't had any on the hood since I bought it 3months ago, and somehow no water gets past it into the engine bay. As far as the impaired vision, everyone who has sat in my car asks me how I see over the hood. It blocks some of your vision up front, but if you know how to drive your car and are familiar with how long the front ends are, you won't be running into things. I'm 5'5"(short I know) and have no problem with the lost front end vision. My girlfriend loves it, but hates it at the same time because she cannot see anything so she gets scared, and she can't drive it . If you make it functional, the nostil holes are really small so you can open them up like I did, check it out on My Cardomain
