power steering brackets

I am having trouble attaching the 82 Camaro's power steering pump to my 350 engine! The engine used to have factory exhaust manifolds of which I replaced with Hooker Headers and now I am finding that the Power Steering brackets are not fitting right. Apparently the factory manifolds had longer bolts and extended out futher and were designed to allow the PS Pump bracket attach to the 1st bolt on the manifold. Did I do something wrong??

From: out of my mind; be back in 5 minutes....
Car: 1989 Firebird Formula
Engine: Internal Combustion
Transmission: Completed
Axle/Gears: ones that turn.
The 'problem' is that the original manifold had a thick mounting flange; 1" or 1¼" or so thick, compared to a 3/16" or so thick header flange.
One solution is to use a stud about 2½" long to fit into the bolt hole in the head, use a nut to hold the header flange tight, then use two more nuts to space out the PS bracket where it needs to fit...one nut on each side, and jam them together.

Thanks!
Can't wait to try it!
The wife has a "honey do" list before I try it though!
It won't take long, I'll do what I usually do... lose
the list after finishing the first request!

I have the same problem...and if you look at the exhaust manifold, you'll see exactly what Petes 84Z28 was talking about--it puts the bracket much farther from the engine compared to what the header will do for you.

If you look at your PS Pulley from the passenger side, do you see it tilited out of plane with the rest of the pulleys?

Check out Summit...MCH-20165. This should solve the problem. As soon as I finish my wife's honey-do list, I'll order one & slip it on. Right now, I let mine ride. It is a belt-eater over time, but it will run.

Well...the March kit would work, if you wanted to sacrifice your AC. I had to return the kit. I modified my old bracket to make it work.

Here is an alternative, though:
