How do I get positraction?
Q: How do I get positraction for my open rear end?
A: If you have an 89-92 car with 28 spline axles, get the $99 SLP take-off posi unit, and a set of 3.23, 3.42, or 3.73 gears, and have a skilled rear-end installer install it for you. If you have an 82-88 car with 26 spline axles, you will also need the 28 spline axles from an 89-92 car, or aftermarket axles from Moser or another company. You could also just swap the whole rear end from another car.

You're right... I figured more 3.23 or higher cars already have posi, and this was for the 2.73 owners.
Also, what if you have the 7.5" ring gear, instead of the later 7.625" ring gear? Will the 7.5" gears fit the later posi?

Yes, they will... just did it.
I do NOT know if the 7 5/8" GEARS will fit a 7 1/2" posi. My gut feeling is, no, because the gap is on the inside diameter.
IOW, the 7 1/2" gear on a 7 5/8" posi leaves about 1/8" empty space between it and the carrier.
And, BTW, almost all early T5 cars got 3.42 gears... and posi was an option, most of them didn't have it. A lot of open 3.42 drum rears floating around
, including one sitting in my back yard.
