Need help what's it worth? 36k miles 88 Firebird formula
It's been sitting at my buddy's place parked in the woods, for a "long time" its only got 36581 miles on it, it's a automatic with a 305 engine black in color
He wants to sell it now, since he knows he will never restore it, when he bought it, it only needed to be cleaned up, and then his life sort of took a nasty turn, and the car went on a back burner for way too many
years. The worst part is mice got into it through the air vents, we think, and did a number on it inside can anyone help me out what it's worth?
Where he should sell it on? It's in Sandy Hook
We could use some help, here is some pics on it

Looks like a 87 with those wheels.
It'll need a bunch of work and at this point the miles don't matter. It'll have to be treated like a 200,000 mile car. Sitting where its at, I bet the bottom is ruuuusty.
As it sits, If you get 1500 or so I think that would be pushing it.
I think I see gatorback tires on the rear there.
Best bet is to drag it out, clean it up and see what your working with.

Got as good a view as if I had it on a lift, he was the second owner, his plan at the time was to clean it up for a fast resell, but life always has surprises for you. If
there's rust where would it be the worst? Because that's where i want to take the most pics of, no sense in trying to hide it, I want to be fair and honest, and so does
my buddy. I feel bad for him he taking a real bath on it. He also has another car there with low miles its a ford compact type don't know what it is, same deal mice got in.

That's the thing, you'll need pix of everything to get a good idea of what you are working with.

Cars that sit on grass usually get their floors rusted fast simply because water vapors go up ,thats why you should avoid park it in the forrest.Even the screws in the speedometer are rusty.
Btw how the heck you can get mice through the vents?I thought that thing is closed or if you can get a mouse through it you should also get water.

probably a parts car by now, complete removal of all the interior components including all interior plastics and dash, removal of all the heating ducts to get rid of the mice "residue", probably moldy inside, probably rusted through on the floors, possible wiring chewed up. I would not think it would be worth it. But, clean it up, put a battery in it and see what happens first.

If you have the time to part it out, you are likely to get more $$$. However, it's more work and time than selling the whole thing for maybe a $1,000. TTOP350 advised that $1,500 was probably the most you could get on a good day. Frankly, I'd rather pay $2,500 for one that runs than $900 for your friend's Bird that doesn't run. I paid $2,500 for my 1992 V6 and put several thousand dollars into it over several years. Most of it was making improvements for a car that I could drive and enjoy most of the time. Your bird will take a lot of money & time (lots & lots of time) just to get it running. Especially with who knows how much damage the rodents have done in addition to all the rust and other water damage.
Pulling parts off a car is easier and faster than trying figure out what parts are needed along with paying for the parts to get it running. However, it takes time to post & re-post classified ads and then pack & ship sold items. You might want to check the classified on this site and Ebay to see the price of used bird parts to get some sort of estimate on what makes the most sense. Just my 2 cents.

I might tow it away for free if you are near me.
I'm in New England.
Kinda breaks my heart to see it like that.

Thats a real shame, but everbody is right. Not worth much in that condition. Here in sc it wldnt go much more than scrap price $300 or $400. Even with low miles the engine wld have to be rebuilt to even be useable because all the seals and gaskets are prob dry rotted at the very least. Im sry for ur friends troubles and loss on that.

Let me know if he is going to scrap it or just wants it gone. It is a long haul from me but it is worth the trip. I will pay between $500-600 for it just because it is a complete car, but so much work is going to need to be done. I hate to see it go to waste and I want to build a Formula with my daughter.
