1986 Firebird SE
Hi my name is Matt and i recently acquired this car from a customer of mine that owed me money. I had it listed for sale on craigslist for $4750 but recently was told by someone that it is worth MUCH more than that. I want to list it for sale here, and would also hope someone could tell me what the true value of it is? It has 56,000 original miles, the car is all stock and all original, and its in amazing shape. I am going to link the craigslist ad here: https://hudsonvalley.craigslist.org/cto/6176780708.html
Thank you very much!
NOTE: CAR SOLD!

Re: 1986 Firebird SE
I'd say you're in the ballpark... The SE is a bit of an oddity. What makes it different from a base Firebird is the leather steering wheel, e-brake, and shifter handles, the Trans Am style tail lights, and the vented hood. The center piece of the tail lights and the hood, are specific to the SE, and are different from a Trans Am.
None of the SE features really make the collectors drool with anticipation. I'd say its worth a small premium because it's in nice shape and appears unmolested. It's a nice car, but probably wouldn't start a bidding war at Barret-Jackson.

I'd say you are about right on value but if someone makes an offer that's less try to negotiate it out.
The SE is an oddity like Drew said - not really sought after by anyone, was built to be a higher level cruiser without the power and punch of a TA. No spoiler & low po motor are negatives, interior & miles are a plus. 86 is a tough year as well with that high mounted brake light on the rear glass.

Great thank you for letting me know. I got an offer of $4300 for it. Do you think that is fair? I do not want to sell myself short. I really like the car as it reminds me of my first car, a 1990 camaro rs!

Re: 1986 Firebird SE
Also, FWIW, that car looks to have (possibly/probably) been in an accident at some point.
Front bumper and pass side fender have been repainted, and in the casecond of the fender, it was done off car and is likely a replacement
not only is the decal missing over the black/white transition, but look at the open hood pic... the white of the inner fender lip passenger side does not match the rest of the car.
I bet if you check the fender there for the date stamping, it will either be absent or not match the rest of the car.
still a nice car, but keep that in mind when haggling and thinking value.

Re: 1986 Firebird SE
Still looks a decent car for the money, not hugely valuable or desirable in general terms but still collectable for the right person because of the miles and its an unusal 80's Thirdgen firebird. I agree that the passenger front fender and bumper have been replaced at some point but I think it was probably a little fender bender that was fixed at the owners local garage/bodyshop at some point because chances are if it had been a large insurance repair bodyshop/garage then they'd have also replaced the decals on the fender and bumper. $4500 is still a decent price
