After years of wasting time on finding good bodies, nice interiors and other stuff to make ONE good car out of it all, I'm getting tired of all that, I'm kinda specific on the options, but I don't care WHERE in North America the car is...

Looking to buy an 1988 Trans Am GTA with following options, I don't care if the options are still there or broken, but it has to be on the RPO sticker:

1988 Trans Am GTA 5.7 V8 TPI
-black on black (I don't care which color it is NOW or if the interior is ripped)
-digital dash (I don't care if they work or not)
-TTops (that's an absolute MUST HAVE OPTION)
-steering wheel controls
-GAIN control radio/amplifier option

Again, I'm really specific on all this, so please don't offer me a white on gray GTA UNLESS it WAS black on black from factory. I don't care if it's leather or not. The body should be rust free, you can picture what I came across for the last few years being in Canada...
I don't care if any of the above options are NOT in the car or damaged or anything, as long as it got delivered with these! I have most parts to complete the car or put it back into stock condition if stuff is bad or missing, but I'm kind of **** with the RPO codes. I had basically the identical car minus the subwoofer option years back and haven't found one like that since. I'll have to do some research on the GAIN option, I have a few dashes of 87s with that option and know it was cancelled for 89, so there HAVE to be some 88s out there?!
I'm willing to fly to anywhere in North America and drive or transport the car back to here (Ontario/Canada)!
Is this impossible to find!? Does anyone know of a GTA like this?

It MIGHT also be an 89 GTA as I've heard that 6 or 7 or so DID come with digital dashes, however, this is rather impossible to find - I guess...

 

I figured that one out, the car I'm looking for has never been made for the American market, meanwhile they're all over Canada. I have 2 GTAs with 5.7/TTops/rear roll-up cover and other options that apparently never came on cars in the US. One of the GTAs is actually an 87 exactly like the one I'm looking for as an 88, the other car is an 88 with all options, but came in white with gray interior...

SO if there's any CANADIAN member that knows of a car like described above, please let me know!

Too bad it had to be an 88 black on black I have an 87 GTA red exterior and black interior with all the options you listed and much more the only thing it needs repaired is the wraparound spoiler,need to convert the ac and the hatch pull down is weak other than that she's in perfect condition this model originally came with the vette engine it has a 700r4 tranny ooh it doesn't have the steering wheel controls has this was not an option for the 87 as an added bonus she's in Canada

 

Probability of finding what you are looking for is pretty good. But it might take more than a month.

Over 9000 GTA's were made in 1988, of which:

100% came with steering wheel controls
50% were digital dash
25% were T top

If you are willing to travel your exact car will pop up, you just have to be patient. If you find the right one and it's missing the subwoofer option, I would suggest you move on it. It's a compromise on a minor item that shouldn't be a break it deal, but it's your call.

theres a black one here in texas that i know has the digital dash but i am unsure of the interior color. it has the gold cross lace wheels. the interior is either black or tan. lmk if your still looking for one and i will try and get you a number

 

87 was a Digi Dash option as well. I know of a 87 in Florida but no t-tops & not originaly black, but it did come with the Digi Dash. I only mention it as proof that 87s could have it too.

 

My best friend has an all original, 1988 GTA, 5.7l, digital dash, T-top, Black exterior and black interior.Bought in Michigan. He can't find any info on it. How rare is this car?

 

Has he looked on http://www.gtasourcepage.com? There are lists of each year & options to see how many of each were built by the options but no combination of options combined.

Being a '88, he may not be able to discover a complete breakdown of the number of cars built with his same combination but he could try. I can't remember the link to do those through GM, but I'm somebody here will share it or ask over at gtasourcepage.com
