It's been over a decade since I've been on these forums, but I'm reminiscing on my old car and was thinking about how cool it could be to find it again. I sold the car in 2014 here in Columbus OH, and the car is apparently still here.
I used the VIN to find a carfax report, which shows the title # from the ODOT and it looks like the car is still being registered yearly here in Franklin County, OH. Beyond that, I'm stumped. The title dept. obviously wouldn't give me any owner info, and I don't have any qualifying reasons to submit a form for "last known address". So idk honestly at this point. Figured it wouldn't hurt to ask here.
The car is an 85 Pontiac Trans Am, Arctic white, automatic trans with a grey interior. 305 v8, tpi. It notably had hooker competition headers and a flowmaster exhaust on it, with a Pontiac decal on the windshield.
A long shot, but I'm hoping to find it. I appreciate any info or advice. Thanks!

Sounds like you got the same "help" from ODOT that I did a year ago while trying to find a vehicle I once owned.
Your only shot, besides this thread on this site, would be to post something similar all over social media any place you think it might get viewed; FB Marketplace and craigslist would be 2 places for starters.
Good luck; if your search pans out, come back to this thread and let us know.

Agreed, throw up a Facebook post in your area, someone just may recognize it. The great news is you figured out it's sill being registered, that's huge.
Has this car turned up yet? I feel like I have seen this car before, but who knows when. It was probably back when you owned it, as I used to work in Columbus.
Back when I did work in Columbus, I knew a guy that ran a somewhat shady towing operation and he did a lot of repo work. He was able to find out who owned any car and where they lived. I don't remember if he just needed the plate #, or if he could look it up by VIN as well. But anyway, if you ask around, maybe you know somebody that knows somebody that can find out where the car resides.
