Anyone interested in a group purchase on headers ??

I hope to upgrade my stock manifolds to a set of shorties before the winter and was wondering if anyone here would be interested in getting together for a group purchase.

The sponsors on this site have a pretty good selection of headers for our 3rd gen's and I wouldn't mind saving a couple buck's if I had the oppertunity.

I'm looking to either hooker or a set of MAC's (both appear to be very similar) though I may just bite the bullit and go with SLP's provided the price is right.

If anyone is interested let me know if we can make this happen so we can get the ball rolling - sort of speak.

Well, that makes two of us

Though I don't think we'll get much of a discount with just two people.

Come on guy's. There must be more than just 2 people on this entire site interested in a group-buy on headers isn't there

I would think we would need atleast 10 people minimum for one of our sponsors to work out some king of deal with us..

I'll wait a few more day's and if no one else is interested in saving a few buck's, it looks like I'll just buy a set on my own -at full price

I made the mistake of buying the flowcraps and may be interested in the group buy of hookers if the price is right.

Well, that's 3.

I'm sure we can work something out with one of the supporting sponsors if we get atleast 10-15 people involved. They won't do it for 3.

I'll wait till the end of the month. If we can't find another 10-12 guys involved, looks like we're on our own.

Spread the word !!

im in for a set of hooker 2055's if we can get them at a group rate. have you tried talking to the sponsers yet to see if they'd be willing to get a group purchase rate going per how many people we can gaurentee? like 90IROC1 i'd like to get a set that came with the Y pipe, which is why i vote for the hooker 2055's, that and they ahve a very good reputation with the folks around these parts.

Okay this might just work.

Before I start sending out emails to the sponsors, I need to know what headers you all are interested in getting. It appears hooker is the most requested but do we want them bare or coated?? There's a substantial difference in price between the two. Something like $460 v.s $720 or something over at Thunder racing.

I need to know exactly what everybody is interested in before I contack them so I can provide them with the information on which product we want the discount on.

Please respond.

Well, Thunder is very high in my eyes with pricing. I would think around 3-350 coated on the hooker shortys.

I've searched everywhere and I can't find the hooker 2055's for anything less than$450. Maybe I'm searching in all the wrong places

Regardless, if we go by Third Gen's sponsors, here are our choices

THUNDER RACING:
Hooker (coated) 1 5/8 WITH ypipe. $720
Hooker(same as above) - NON COATED $460

OR

SPOHN:
SLP 1 3/4 stainless steel WITH ypipe $699

AND FINALLY

HAWK's Third Gen:
MAC's 1 5/8 (HTS COATING) WITH ypipe $470

I know there's other place's out there but I'd kind of like to do this with one of this forum's sponsors if possible.

After looking around, I was thinking of the Hooker Competitions instead of the Super Comps (2055), which are 390 from Summit. I am looking at the bare 2055s and the Headman equivalent right now. I am not looking to spend more than 300 right now. So I am considered iffy until and price is closed.

2055's are shorty's with AIR tubes.

If I were you, I would try calling Jet-Hot, they sell headers directly, that are already coated. I bet they beat those prices.

Nope. I just double checked to make sure. 2055s' are the shorties.

Long Tube's are 2210's

I don't care what brand as long as there a good set with y pipe. I need a set that has 1 3/4 primary tubes, as I am in process of building a 400+ hp 383 for my vert. I think most of the companys list 1 5/8 for 305 cars and 1 3/4 for 350 cars!!!! Let me know.

im all for the hooker 2055's, but they are expensive from those places. i totally agree with contacting jet hot and seeing what they can do directly. IF the price is right, i'd be for some coated 2055's!

Okay, I've just emailed ThunderRacing, Hawksthirdgen and Spohn and asked them whether or not they'd be interested and if so, to email me a quote for how much the hooker, mac and SLP's would cost with our discount (if we even get any)

As far as Jet Hot, They don't have an email address you can ask questions to, only an address to place orders.

I'm assuming JetHot is in the US and I'm not really in the mood to spend money on a long distance call since I live in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada.

If one of you can phone them up and ask whether or not they'd be interested in participating in a group purchase, that would be greatly appreciated. I'm assuming you'd all want the price on the Hooker's 2055's

Please let me know if any of you are willing to make the call.

Alright guy's I got a response from Thunder on Monday. (Sorry it took so long to post but I've been working a lot of hours lately)

On the bare hooker's (no coating) we save roughly $50
On the coated we save roughly $90
on the SLP's we save $65

Many thanks to ThunderRacing on such a quick reply.

Question is, how many are going through with it? These are good deals peopl, try not to pass them up

Here's a copy/paste of the email:
Hello,

I would be glad to offer something for you guys. No minimum orders required
and discount will be as follows:

#2055, $415
#2055-1, $630
#28-30005C, $635

Pricing does not include shipping. All you will need to do is mention the
GP when you order. Best to ask for me but anybody will be able to help you
if I'm not here. There will be a cutoff date of Oct 28th. That should give
people enough time to decide. Be sure to mention no expedited shipping on
the headers since this is a group purchase. Just let me know if you have
further questions and approximately how many people maybe looking to
purchase.

Thanks,

yeah i completely game for a set of 2055...i have had a set already on another car and where really easy install and really nice. I have also had slp's and the hookers are by far better. Let me know on a price.....like someone mentioned summit has them the cheapest and if you can find them anywhere cheaper they will match the price....might try calling summit and asking them about a group perchase of 10 sets or more and see what kind of price they can do.......they will be ur best bet. let me know.....i'm game....they come with a really nice y-pipe as well......

Guys, I will extend the cutoff date if you still haven't made up your mind. Lets make it Nov 15th. The killer deal is the coated Hooker 2055 headers. Never see that price anywhere.......not even Summit!!!

Jet Hot Quoted me 2055's for $673 + shipping.

Don't count on it. Look how many people were "interested" when I came up with the idea. Then look at how many people "took the plunge" when we got the deal? ZERO !!!

I ended up just using the money to put in new floor pans in my car.

Sometimes, other things "come up" and you no longer have the money. It happens I guess.
