Clarification

Ben said he was "Finishing up two sets" which of course implied they were in progress and near completion. They were supposed to ship out this week to us but since Ben is out this week, we have no way to find out what stage they are actually in.

We've told Ben many times that we need to see progress and when he personally committed to building the runners, we hoped the service would improve. Once Ben returns next week, we will follow up.

I would of loved to have gotten this price, but I was too late...

TPIS has them in stock, I just ordered a set.

Update from Ben @ ASM

We spoke to Ben today. He indicated one of the sets for Canada was completed and the other will be completed and shipped this week. They are shipping together to our Canada location and then will reship direct to the customers.

Ben was on vacation last week and apologized but we EMPHASIZED he must keep to the 1 set a week schedule and he said he would.

We're still hanging in there and hounding Ben so we do appreciate your patience.

Re: AS&M Big Tube runners - Thread only for the commited ....

So what's the word.
Did Ben finish both sets of runners?
Did they both ship today?
Did one set ship today?
Let me guess, they'll ship them by Monday, right?

One runner set shipped

Despite numerous calls to Ben @ ASM, he only got one runner set shipped. This customer has been notified and sent a tracking #.

We emphasized AGAIN the importance of meeting his committments and how completely upset we are at the extremely poor level of service that we and our customers have been receiving.

Ben said he is going to try and get 2 sets done this week to try and catch up.

We'll keep hounding him!

Thanks again for your patience.

Again, I hope all of you get your runners that hung in there.

This morning, I purchased a ported plenum from Mike at Corvetteplenum.com

One day, I hope to install a ProCharger and this will be a good step forward. Next may be a new throttle body???

They were supposed to but Ben made a late model set and both sets for Canada are early models. The Canadian orders are next though. Ben emailed me to say he had 1/2 set completed yesterday was going to complete the other sets today. We'll pester him Monday to find out what actually got accomplished.

Thanks!

At this point I wish I lived in Canada. Once I finally get my runners I still have to send them to NJ for polishing and port matching. Crap!

Re: AS&M Big Tube runners - Thread only for the commited ....

I wish I would have waited for the AS&M instead of going with Edelbrock. I cant believe how poorly they fit. Some of the bolt holes dont line up and ofter spending several hours getting them bolted in I come to find out they dont clear the fuel rails so I had to take them back of I ended up puting the stock runners back on to get it going. So I dont know if ill ever by much from Edelbrock again.

Mods. GMPP Vortec heads, Comp Cams XR269HR, Crane Gold Rockers, Hooker headers, SDPC intake manifold, free flow exhaust, Air Foil, De-screened MAF, TB Bypass, K&N filter, MSD Coil. To be installed, Edelbrock runners, BBK AFPR, SFC.

Re: AS&M Big Tube runners - Thread only for the commited ....

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick post. We have left a few messages for Ben at AS&M to get the status of the two runner sets he was supposed to have ready to ship out. If he doesn't get back to us by noon tomorrow, we will call him again. Hopefully he will get tired of being hounded and actually finish them!

We'll keep you posted. Thanks for the continued uber patience

Ben,

I must say one thing here.... Even though I have received my runners, I have watched this thread closely, as many of my fellow board members have not. You have consistently held fast to doing whatever it takes to get these to the folks that have ordered them. Great customer service and we will all remember that in the future. Rick

Re: AS&M Big Tube runners - Thread only for the commited ....

Here's the note we got from Ben at AS&M. I guess we will see if he comes through:

"Still trying to get them done. We have a solution in the works that will
get then entire order done rather quickly. I should have at least the 2
sets for you going to Canada shipped this week and another 4 or 5 sets to
ship next week. We should be able to finish up the entire order within a
couple of weeks."

We'll follow up with him on Monday.

Thanks

Re: AS&M Big Tube runners - Thread only for the commited ....

Just spoke to Ben & AS&M. He said they are 1/2 hour away from completing one set and the other set is supposed to be done this week for the two orders up in Canada. At this point, we'll believe it when we get the tracking #.

He also said the owner (Jim) committed a guy at the shop to build them to bring this whole order process to an end but we'll wait and see. Apparently Ben built two sets before and got too far behind in his regular job.

We'll post again as soon as we have more info. Thanks

WOW, i was thinking about putting my set up for trade on the classified boards, but looks like there are few out there to swap with. Just in pasing though, I have an unused ie:mocked up but never run, early style w/ cold start, and direct port nitrous bungs. They are capped (AN) and look great, I just have 89 setup, and never plan on nitrous. Iffin someone is intrested in a straight swap, shoot me a pm.

As a side note...

I thought I'd pay the xtra money... I called TPIS "we have them in stock", a couple weeks later when they got my payment... nope... A month later, mind you, each week I was told "next week".... today, "still haven't gotten them from the local shop we outsource them to, should be a few more days"....

what a joke...

Be sure an put a note in the Vendor Section about AS&M & TPIS....

I know FastToys has done what they can...

I hated that aspect of having my own business... having to rely (and be disappointed) on others for things I needed.

Update # 501

We spoke with Ben again today to politely ask where the "heck" are the two orders he promised to ship last week. He said he has 1 1/2 sets done now and would get the other 1/2 done this week to ship.

We "reminded" him he has told us that for the past couple of weeks and promised they would ship. We are looking really stupid telling people the order will ship when it doesn't 3 weeks in a row. He said he was REALLY sorry but there was nothing he could do to speed it along and he would do his best to try and encourage the orders to get shipped. The only alternative is to give everyone a refund.

We are going to wait and see what happens this week but if things don't ship. we may ask those of you waiting to call AS&M and ask to speak to the owner. We know everyone really wants these runners or we wouldn't have been so nice but if pressed to far, we are sure they will just cancel everything.

Sorry everyone but it's the waiting game now. If nothing gets shipped these week, we will leave it up to all of you to decide what you would like to do.

Our sincere apologies. We have spent more time on this than you can imagine!

Re: AS&M Big Tube runners - Thread only for the commited ....

As far as I’m concerned you have no reason to apologize.

You have definitely gone the extra mile for this group purchase.
I’m sure all of us appreciate your extra effort on our behalf.

I once again would like to THANK YOU for trying to resolve this matter.

I obviously would really like a set of these large tube runners .
Other wise I would have asked for a refund months ago.

I can afford to wait it out as long as A S & M doesn’t blow us off completely.

Ok. We will contact AS&M once a week for updates. Hopefully they will get those two sets shipped out soon that Ben promised.

Thanks everyone.

This thread certainly raises the blood pressure doesn't it.
Thanks again for keeping on top of it PHIL we definatly know it has nothing to do with you or fast toys. I know I will do business with you again.

Just to keep everyone straight.

It is Phil Reddy who owns Fast Toys
that has been helping us all along.

Phil has been in constant contact with Ben Benavides.

It is Ben Benavides the sales representative
at Arizona Speed & Marine who promised
that he, himself would make the remaining
sets of runners @ 1 per week until they would all
be finished.

This was after A S & M stiffed us by not
keeping any employees working on these runners
and fulfilling this order in a timely fashion.

I'm not sure who it is that owns or manages A S & M.

Re: AS&M Big Tube runners - Thread only for the commited ....

got a question for all you still waiting. other than the fact that the price was great and these are the best runners money can buy. why you all still hanging around for this?

AS&M made everyone that started this GP look like fools. and at this point is plan idiotic. its been a half of a year for a simple part as a runner. bail out and show this company that the old cleshay that the customer knows best is true.

you guys are nuts for putting up w/ this. no offense. this is plan BS!

Just a hair over 7 months at the moment. BulliTooth was the last person to receive a set (March 29th). That's aprox 3.5 weeks ago. The same time frame AS&M gave to fill all 22 orders.

Re: AS&M Big Tube runners - Thread only for the commited ....

I have a couple of reasons for hanging on this long.

First off my cash flow has become interrupted, so this long
delay is not going to hurt me that much.

Next my car is running ok with the stock TPI.
I just went to KCIR about a week ago & was turning
13.7 @ 98 mph pretty consistent.
( not my best performance but hay I had fun )

My last reason is purely aesthetic.
I like the original LOOK of the factory TPI but would like to
improve upon it’s performance.

I definitely do not like the design of the Edelbrock runners.
Also not fond of the siamese look of the SLP runners.
Nor am I crazy about the Accel super ram style.

So that leaves AS&M or TPIS.
I'm not 100% sure but I believe that AS&M
is making the runners for TPIS.

I was told that AS&M is not making the runners for TPIS, "they provided the tooling'... but they've lied to me about other stuff...

& they're not in stock and waiting on magic troll's at TPIS... 1.5 months + wiat for me so far... see my vendor review for more details...
