These spring tuning kits to suit the O.E.M. Posi units they offer a better posi effect than standard more spring pressure on the cone clutches and less lash between the pinion gears and side gears ensure a longer life.
sounds good to me!

Re: 9 bolt posi cones!!

Put me down for a springs and cones, too!

As an aside, if you can get a good deal on them in bulk, I'd order about 50 extra sets, and sell them yourself! I'm having trouble finding anyone with a 7.75" posi unit for less than a grand, so I doubt you'd have any problems selling the cones and springs for rebuilds!

Re: 9 bolt posi cones!!

Take me off the list for cones. The existing ones rubbed the carrier, so I'm hesitant to use it. My mechanic can get a new unit for around $600 (as opposed to the $1000 I've seen everywhere else), so I think I'll just bend over and take it from his supplier. The car is my only daily driver, and I need to get it back on the road.

[edit] After looking at my carrier again, it looks like it should be ok. Put me back on the list if this is still going to happen. Sorry about the confusion.

Re: 9 bolt posi cones!!

Dude,

I don't want to be harsh here, but, it's been 6 weeks since you last updated anyone on your progress. Many of us are holding up our plans waiting on info on this. It's now May, when most peoples' Summer projects are ramping up, and this is throwing a monkey wrench in mine, if not other peoples'.

It's not that I don't appreciate your efforts, I do. But, I'd like to remind you that it was you who started this thread, and it was you who piqued all our interest. You have an obligation to keep us updated and, if you've decided it's too much trouble, etc., to let us know that so we can make other plans.

athey also can bottome out on the inside of the carrier. the cones woudl need maching then. The windows are near the carrier bearing on each end. They allow lube into the housing.
Note: new cones will make up for smoe of the wear of the carrier but not all.
New 9 bolt carriers are $485 US Plus shipping.

Yes, the springs tighten up the pre load.
Who sells a 9 bolt carrier for $485?

Re: 9 bolt posi cones!!

To all,

I have had no response back since March 25. I am just as disapointed as you are. I have 2 diffs waiting for cones. I have posted the link to the web site and the contact person is Kurt Hidajat at Diff Technics in Australia. I have added the last email I did receive from them.

FTW- they did have a new 9 bolt carrier advertised for $485 US. and a race carrier for approx $900. I am sorry for the getting everyones hopes up. I guess they just don't want to do business.

Sincerley,
Steve

http://www.difftechnics.com.au/

I have not forgot Steve,

Here is my problem right now,

The Cones that you need are recessed on the bottom as the carrier case has a extruded rib on the base of the carrier case… If I get you later model ones you will need to machine the rib off its no biggie but the next problem is we will need to get the late model axle gears! It’s just a wild goose chase at the moment but I am doing what I can! I know the natives are probably getting a bit rowdy…. Just hang in there man..

Thanks

Regards, Kurt Hidajat

Count me out. Finding good gears for a 9 bolt is hard enough. I'm just going to get a 10 bolt and rebuild it with 3.42's.

Yeah. I'm out. Will go aftermarket 12 bolt, keep the current 9 bolt as a spare for the other (street) Formula.

My Original supplier backed out. I found this supplier in Austraila, they have coens and complete new HD Posi carriers for $500 AUS plus shipping, which will be cheaper that $750 that someone else is asking.

thanks

500 Australian = 422.46 US, at current exchange rates.

http://www.ask.com/web?q=number+of+U...Dollars&qsrc=8

What axles do the US 9 bolts use, anyway?

It wouldn't be hard for an axle manufacturer to make 31 spline axles to fit; could be a good performance upgrade.

I'd think shipping on those carriers from Australia would be a bitch, though.
