Is this really the end?

My 85 z28 was rear-ended at approx. 50mph on Sunday. The back is pretty well smashed and my friend told me that when a unibody car gets plowed that there's no hope. Is it true or can it be saved?

Agreed. 50mph into the back of a 17 year old car, sorry
Just hope everyone was alright.

Yeah, me and my girlfriend are alright, but it'll take a long time before I get over losing my other love. R.I.P., 'maro...

Buy it back and go to the junkyards and find another chassis and swap everythign over. Thats about the only way to pull it off.

Even then, the car will never be the same. Once a unibody has been tweaked like that, even if its fixed right, the chassis will probably never have the same rigidity again, and you can expect more rattles, squeaks and creaks than before

Thats why if any of my cars get seriously whacked, I'd rather have them totalled and buy another one than try to repair mine. Don't get me wrong, I love them both...but once a car has been hit seriously, there's no going back. I checked both of my F bodies over VERY carefully to ensure there was no damage from a collision...

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but in this case it would most likely be better off to start all over again

Jason you wanna tell em about Ryan's Z28 with T-tops i'll save that one for you. I was rear ended in my 83 by a concord doing 35ish. I ended up amazingly with messed up exhaust and small dent in trunk pan. Oh and mis aligned rear shocks. She ended up going under me and my rear tires were on her strut towers Everyone was fine and I can't believe the higher springs that some yahoo put in actually saved me and the car from a direct hit. I say scrap the car. As much as I hate to see antother one crushed the car is done. You have any pics???
