What i got back from Carfax.com...

If I ever buy a used car,I will never go by Carfax's documents. I ran my vin to find out more info on my car, since my neighbor had a free subscription to Carfax. Anyway,I was involved in an accident over a year ago and my car was deemed totalled.I bought the car back, restored it,and had to sign papers for a salvage title. My insurance company also knows it is a salvage title and will only insure me up to $1000. Well, when I got the carfax documents,it stated that my title is as clean as can be.No salvage,no rebuild, nothing. And they gauranteed it to be a clean title. Also, since I have had the car,it has been in major body shops twice due to accidents. But Carfax states the car is accident free. I double checked the vin, thinking i missed a digit, but everything checked out fine. What's up with that?
So anyway, just thought I'd let everyone in on this experience I had.

Well, in my case when I ran my vin through Carfax it listed mine as having a salvage title issued for it at 12500 miles (4/87) in Iowa, and then it was brought here to Indiana and issued a clean new title (Bastards! ). Now I've looked all over my car to see signs of repaired damage from a major accident, I can't find any! That body shop must have been good. Anyway I bought my car in '97 as a wreck (not from original accident mind you) and that is not on there either, which leads me to belive it was just never turned in that time. But my car was dead once, that carfax told me, and one time that I know of when I got it. This time though it's history will stop with me . I found my IROC sitting wrecked, paint half stripped from it, sitting next to a barn with no gas tank, and hacked and chopped engine wiring harness. We should start a basket case/resurrection thread and see how everyones fbody looked when they go it. that would be
