Restoring a 1985 Camaro Berlinetta
Hi all ... i am new in here and pleased to meet you ... i thought i should post this topic here ...
I live in greece and I was given a 1985 Berlinetta, it has an LG4 305 and almost all the extras, everything power etc.
I started by redoing the interior and now I am thinking of rebuilding the engine and trying to add some extra hps
my wanna do mods: one piece front (hood,nose,fenders) mady from epoxy and carbon fibres by me, and some kind of body kit but not anything fancy.
as about the engine I CAN'T throw a 350 in so I going to tune the 305. take out the A/C&Heater and the smog equipment, increase the compresion, port the heads, headers-exhaust-intake manifold-carb-camshaft,wires etc. also i like the idea of an electric water pump and gas pump. the rear seats have gone with the wind. as about tires ... well it's not my fault but it has 225/65/14 Kumhos ... in some strange FORD wheels !!!! i know 'cause they have FORD stamped !!! i'm thinking about 245/40/17 front and something like 295/40/17 rear (a bit TOO large but i like it)
i also have the Haynes manual ... which despite what many people say i found it really useful ...
BUT ... i need some info 'cauze here in Greece noone knows and can tell me:
Do I have a Computer Controlled Q-Jet?
Hydraulic or Roller Cam?
Torque Converter? Splines-Teeth?
my TH-700R4 is electronic? has lock-up?
How do I remove the Smog stuff? (i couldn't fine the tech article)
can anyone send me scanned the users manual? (plz!!!)

Transmission: 700r4
a 1985 will have a hydralic camshaft and assuming the car is from the US, it will be a computer controlled Quadra-jet. if the carb has electrical connections on it, it is a computer controlled q-jet. if the car is from canada it will not be a computer controlled q-jet. the computer controleld q-jets didnt show up in canada till 1987. if the carb is computer controlled, i believe the computer controls the Torque converter lock up. sorry...thats all i can help you with.
