I found mine attached to the bottom of one of the rear seats when I took them out to install my roll bar...

OK places to look for your build sheet.
Under your drivers seat (& I do mean under it lol take it out & Check under the wire)
on top of your gas tank.
under your center console
somewhere behind your dash
under your carpet
behind the plastic in the car.

When my mom bought her 92 RS there was a build sheet sitting in the rear lock box, guess the previous owner found it at some point & left it in there. Last month I found another one, taped to the back of the passenger side door panel, when I was doing the power window swap.

On the other hand, I have yet to find one on my 87... Interior has been removed a couple times (except the dash) and I took out the gas tank when I did the motor swap, no luck Wonder if it's behind the dash

I found one of mine, though I can't remember where in the car it was. Didn't matter though, couldn't really read it. Someone told me that you can call the Corvette Museam(sp?) in Kentucky, and order a build sheet from them. All you have to do is give them your VIN #.

After reading this I'm just about inclined to start taking things apart. I'd love to find the build sheet for my '92. Found pieces of it under the seat on my '78 but is was really deteriorated.
Thanks for the spots to look.

Is it pretty common for build sheets to be stashed like that? Just wondering if there is much of a chance of finding it on a '92. I'm the second owner and the orig was a woman so she didn't pull the car apart or anything. Maybe....

Yeah sounds like I'm going to tear into my 92 and my 84 since I know all of the previous never looked because I asked them I guess they have to be there somewhere!

What are you talking about calling the Corvette museum? Is that true? The vette museum for F-Body build sheets?
What's the deal? Anyone else ever heard this?

Yea they were stashed anywhere in the car. Sometimes even if you were the org owners you cant find them because it wasnt something that they had to leave in the car.

But for the Firebird & Pontiac ppl its easy to get your information. Just go to http://www.phs-online.com. its about $35 to get a packet with your car infromation on it. but for the Camaro ppl it dont happen Chevy dont keep that information so we have to rely on other stuff.

Are you SURE?? Can you post a scan? Are you sure it's not the invoice you are confusing with the build sheet? I've never heard of PHS EVER giving anyone a build sheet....

Sorry I past the stuff off to the New owners last year before THEY totalled out the car. & Yes I was sure We also received a inventory list as well.
The reason why we went to PHS was because it had recaro doors, seats, hood & the higher powered engine in it. But none of the codes we found listed it as a recaro. come to find out it wasnt a recaro. But the old owners had wrecked a 84 recaro & placed everything in the Base modeled car I ended up with.

hi,

if it was an 83 as you say, then there's a really simple way to check for recaro: check for AQ9 on the cowl plate. If you have it, it's a recaro. if not, it's not.

What you CAN'T get from PHS is the build sheet that only factory workers had access to. It has all the RPO's for your car, regardless of whether they were standard or optional. Also has TONS of other codes which are sometimes useful for restoring, but generally they're harder to decode than hieroglyphics. What it also has is the exact weight, exact date built, dealer destination, etc.

what you CAN get from PHS is the invoice which lists only optional RPO codes, not all codes. It will also list the dealer and the car's overall price. You can also get the window sticker from PHS, but same deal: it only lists the options, dealer, price.

hope this helps.. Invoice pictured below:

if you're only lookin for your RPO's, just go to any pontiac/chevy dealer & give them your VIN to run. did it for my car & got a list of every RPO code installed. then run your RPO's against this site's RPO decoder
