yeah looks like someone just put the notchback rear hatch on the car and did some metal fab to flare out the rear wheel wells a bit, and stuck on some gta rims with a vette tpi motor. prototype or not it looks ok

Considering who's selling it, I would tend to believe it. Kruse or "ebay" isnt going to sell a lie on their own site, that leaving themselves open to a huge lawsuit.

if it was another seller, I wouldnt believe it, but ebay wont sell something on their site claiming its one thing, and rare, unless they know it is.

I disagree. The seller provides no documentation, or no indication of documentation anyways, and that sets off a red flag for me.
I have seen that body kit (fiberglass fenders and quarters) on a local Camaro.
It would be far easier to put a notchback and GTA wheels on a Formula, put a fiberglass body kit on it and call it unique. I also noticed the car is missing all the decals, which leads me to think "cheap paint job".
None of the pictures are close enough to show any paint condition or how good the body work really is. It has been my experience that a truly unique car is USUALLY well documented and well photographed. This appears to be neither.
There is nothing in that ad that could be considered illegal, ie misrepresentation of the vehicle. The vehicle is unique, has the L89 engine, 182,000 miles etc. We all know that a dealer could have requested or contracted the labor on the vehicle, and that could be construed as a GM contract. As for 1 of 4, and this is the last one, could be. Besides which, the small print at the bottom of the ad indicates that Kruse cannot be held responsible for misrepresentation, as they are acting as an agent for the seller.
It is a well known fact that the L98 engine came as optional equipment for the 1st time in the 87 model year, so what about this car is prototype? The notchback? '87 was the only year the notchback was released.
I think all of this is reflected in the current price of about 2g the last time I looked.
I think it is a unique, decent looking Formula, with a notchback and 16x8 crosslace wheels. As far as the 1 of 4, and being the last of those, could be. Does that make it any more desirable than any other 3rd, hmm maybe to someone. Not me. I'll save my pennies for a 91-92 Firehawk.

Interestingly enough, it has the leather GTA style leather seats in it, which weren't even an option on a Formula to my knowledge. I personally think someone was trying to make a fake nothcback and didn't finish. Now you have m $.02

'88 was the only year for the notchback if I remember right. This car has the correct notchback/TTA seats in the back also. I would believe it to be a prototype. Seems it has all the notchback stuff on it. And the wheelwell flares could have been part of the package that got dropped.
