84 Recaro

Hey, how much would anyone pay for a 1984 Recaro Edition Trans Am with 170 000 miles on it, and excellent interior, with some normal body rust. Everything works and is in good condition, there is a hole in the muffler. Otherwise its a perfect car with all the documentation and original factory build sheet. It has all receipts and a log book of repairs performed. How much would you say would be a fair selling price on this car?

heh thanks for the compliment, but I'm just a huge fan of any year Recaro T/A, not really an "expert".

I'm assuming you have the original wheels & caps (those are the first thing to be junked. and I believe the caps were unique to 84 Recaro, but I'm not sure), the original striping in good shape (totally unique stripes not found on any other F-body, and not offered by any decal place), good shape micro-3D-eagles on sail panels (83-84 only, Recaro T/A only), good exterior door handles with RECARO T/A visible, original black paint ground effects, black solid, not vented, front bumper inserts. by "excellent interior" I'm assuming no dashpad cracks, no UV-obliterated white dash buttons under gauges, intact seams & foam in all seats, no missing seat belt guides, and no mangled middle console lid. Using all those criteria as a starting point, I would say it's worth $4000 give or take. Add $500 if you have t-tops, add $100 if you have UM6 radio. Not sure if factory subwoofer was an option like in the 84 15th, but if it was and you have it, that's a plus. The driver's side knee rest was 1984 and 1984-only and I think all T/A's had it, so check for it. I don't know if trunk carpeting and locking lid was an option, but it should've been, so add $50 for that. Subtract $1000 if you're missing the original wheels and caps (sorry.. sad but true). I know there were plenty of optional things but I can't think of any *major* ones at the moment. I don't know if the Canadian export (RPO Z49) had any mechanical differences other than the speedo being in km/h. That would be an 83-84 only gauge set and kind of a rare one. I don't know how bad the rust is but that would dramatically lower the price if it's eaten through the lower stripes or gotten past the body panels alltogether. if you could post pics that would help.

good luck
GT

UQ7 Subwoofer was available on all 84's, I heard someplace the locking lid was not available with the WS6, now thats a goofy one!

It always bothers me when people say "normal rust for a car this old". There are several rust free cars out there. I know. I recently bought one. And if it's more than surface rust I wouldn't buy it. Surface rust that's not pitted or real rough is pretty easy to take care of. Just my opinion.

Kizz, the gremlin is a purple bat. I am not gothic or anything,I just love bats. They are intelligent and amazing animals. I tried to save a baby bat I found in my apartment once. They actually aren't the bad creatures some people think they are. By the way, your just a humble guy. LOL
