I've foud that alot of folks think that just because they've got a V8, it is automatically a 350. Most of the IROCs and Trans Ams were 305's. I've driven some damn fast 305 cars though. I like the idea of the manual tranny better than the auto. I prefer to row my own, and damnit when I want a gear, I want it NOW. I'm looking at doing a TPI HT383/T56 swap in my car.

What was really funny was when some joker would insist that all small block chevys were the same!! That's when I'd hook him up with parts for a 283

Some guy noticed my car at work and came in and offered to buy it. He was asking me what kind of engine I had and everything. I couldnt seem to get the idiot to understand that you couldnt get a 350 with a 5 speed. What can you expect from a guy who says he really wants a 93 IROC. Needless to say I wouldnt sell to him or anyone else.

I know this guy who knows a guy's brother who was friends with a guy who had the only 5-speed 350 IROC ever built! Sorry, just had to include this since somebody always writes it when this topic comes up...
Oh, the classic scenario 350 and 5 speed...
oh yeah, well I know a guy who knows a girl that knows a guy that owns a factory L98 Z28 wtih 5 speed and T-tops and 1LE! .. kidding of course.
The tuned port 305s are called 350s all the time. Doesn't help matters that they look similar.
I even saw a '92 Z28 in a chevy dealership when I worked there that was being serviced. Since the '91/92 Zs were my favorite car I went over to look at it. The mechanic said "yep, those 350s are good motors". I then had to prove to him why it was a 305 because he didn't believe me.
...certified mechanic, haha

Man people act as though the 305 never existed. In the 3rd gen a 350 is a rare item.
