I was flipping through a Motor Trend mag in early '91 and there was a half page piece on the soon to be released Firebird convertibles. It was such a vision of beauty I had to have one, and several weeks later I ordered one from the factory. It's a Trans Am, Bright Red with camel leather interior and camel top, 5.0 with 5 speed manual. Pretty much loaded with all the essential options, including WS6 and Limited Slip rear axle. When I checked with Pontiac some years ago I was told there were 104 Trans Am 'verts built in '91 with the 5 speed manual, and around 20 something of those in red on camel. It's been well cared for, right now it has just a little over 14,000 miles on it, and yes, it still has the original tires!

4th owner

I'm the fourth owner of my 90RS. The second owner sold it to a good friend of mine and bought a 2004 Z03 Corvette (drool). Well, my buddy showed up one day and said "Let's take a ride" and let me drive it. I had always wanted a third gen (didn't know that's what they were even called at the time, I just liked the body style). Well, I was driving a 95 Z26 Beretta at the time, and when I drove the car I decided I'd own it someday. About a year later, my buddy buys a new Jetta (I know, it's lame, but it makes him happy), and told me he was putting the Camaro up for sale. A month and a loan later, I had a Camaro I paid $2600 for it, and it had an RR shift kit, 1000 Cobra type wheels, and big tires to match. With a little work, my buddy wishes he had it back

Purchased the camaro white book before I began my search, so I knew what to look for. Finding a 1LE or B4C 5 speed for the right price was nearly impossible at the time. Being 17 at the time State Farm also financially muscled away my hope for a 350.
So I gave up and settled for the RS/T5 with motor swap dreams in my head. (Never got around to that though...)
Then driving past a For d dearlership back 1996 I saw my future ride. I ventured in to enemy territory to check it out.
Mint condition RS TTOP 5.0, 52K one owner miles (all the reciepts), and the must have T5. Plus it had a decent stereo with two amps, CD/ tape. Factory louvers too. (Which I removed and sold right quick) The car was absolutely cherry. Ended up buying it that nite. Got pulled over twenty min. latter for no apparent reason. My welcome to the world of 3rd gens
100K trouble free miles later, I'm still happy.
It's been the perfect first leaner "sports car". (It is hard to kill yourself with an L03 and open diff)

Car: 1991 Trans Am

My dad and I purchased my first Trans Am when I was 16. It was a blue 1982 Trans Am w/ 305 V8 & 4 bbl carb. The car had only 93K on it. I loved the car and still to this day have it... although it is sitting in my garage not running. Some day it will shine again!

My second Trans Am I just purchased in July 04 on ebay. Flew to Delaware and drove it home to Oklahoma. Over 1600 miles! The wife loved that trip. Anyway, it is a red 1991 Trans Am w/ t-tops, 96K miles, ws6, 305 TPI, 5 sp man, and now a spectacular paint job! I have added 4th gen seats, new center console, glass t-tops to replace the cracked lexan tops, and some audio equipment. All in all..this was supposed to be my daily driver. But, since I got hit in October, this car has been totally redone outside, mostly redone inside (needs carpet and headliner), and only 96K. Good thing I only paid 2800 for it!

Anyway, those are my two rides... some day I will get some pictuers on here!

Car: 1984 Z-28
Engine: L69
Transmission: 700R4
I got mine by sheer circumstance. The lady I work with was complaining about this car sitting in her back yard that needed hauled off. I asked her about it and we got to talking and we struck a deal via her daughter (the registered owner) for $250. I went and looked it over and it looks rough. The water based paint peeled off and it has a lot of surface rust. The interior is decent and it was all there. I towed it home and looked up the RPO's on it. It was a factory '84 Z-28, L69, 700R4, Cloth interior, power windows, door locks, hatch release, steering, brakes, cruise control, gauge package, air conditioning.. etc, etc. The engine is not the original. I was talking to the guy that helped me tow it home and I mentioned the engine wasn't the right one and it had been run oout of oil. He asked if I wanted to put a 305 back in and I said yes. (Smog ****'s in CA) and he hooked me up with a long block and short block 305 along with a set of 58cc heads for it. So now the porject begins.

Other F-bodies I had owned
'71 T/A 455/TH400
'73 Formula 400/TH400
'71 Formula 400/4spd
'69 Firebird 350/TH350
'69 RS/SS 350/TH400
'76 Type LT 350/TH350

11 Years ago,I was looking for a project and saw a1985 Z28 being sold as insurance salvage in a local trader paper.I chased down this car a hundred miles away.I went to look at this orphan that was being sold by a body shop.I found a snarf blue 85 with TPI and four wheel discs and a bong load of other options that had been driven under a truck(or something).I hauled the poor beater home and with the help of a bodyman friend,i pieced it back togetherThat was 11 years ago and I've still kept the old girl.76,000 miles on the clock and about 700 miles per year!Front clip still in primer. If y'all ever do this yourself, plan on spending wayyyyyy more than you figure,as all that plastic is expensive!!I have more than the car is worth into it,so I guess I'll just save it for my son(maybe!)......BILL

It took me a while to get around to my 3rd gen, I started off with a '66 Chevelle my dad rebuilt for me, then I had a <gag> '80 Citation (trying to build credit). Then bought my 1st new car, an '84 Toyota Tercel SR5. Found an '84 Mitsubishi Starion turbo, which was a fun car, but rolled it when I hit an oil patch on an on ramp. Used the ins money to buy my '85 T/A L69. I was the second owner and within 300 miles I had to replace the clutch. Still have that car today. Since then I have also owned a '91 RS Conv (6cyl), an '85 T/A (305 non-HO), an '89 RS 305, a '91 RS (6 cyl) and a '92 Z28 L98. Other than the L69 I still own the '92 Z28. Guess I'm just a die-hard 3rd gen fan

my '84 Camaro ZF i bought off a family friend who had it sitting in his "junk" lot at his towing company. it was pretty beat, but i had to have a camaro, so he gave it to me for $200. cost me around $1000 to get the thing up to snuff for inspection and emissions (lots of rust and the 2.8 was in hurting shape).

my '89 RS was bought with money i had recieved from the insurance company after the ZF got broken into and all my stereo stuff was stolen (yeah, crappy car, great sound system). the sbc 400 and th350 in the RS now came from a mechanic i was working with at the same place i had bought the ZF from. $500 for the running truck.

86 TA back in the family

I found mine in the CNY swap sheet. advertised as a no motor car with NO rust for $1500.. I went to check it out even though I had no money really.. So I talked to the guy about a deal and a possible deposit if he could wait till I got my taxes back. Said no problem if I were definitly interested in the car. I said I was because I had an extra Pontiac 400 at home with LOTS of money already invested in it and it needed a new home. So that pay day I went over with my deposit. He was writing the ecipt and asked my name. I said "Jamie Swimm" he was like "Swimm?" I said "Yeah, Why?" he just started laughing... I was like ooh great.. he knows a relative or something.. so he says " Any relation to Swimm's Transmissions?" I said " Sure, That's my Uncle's business." And he says, " That's who I bought the car from...."

THis car was bought almost brand new by my uncle who also was a VERY successful pontiac drag racer thru the 80's and early 90's. He bought the car in 88 in Long Island. When we'd haul the race car to the tracks, my Aunt would drive the 86 TA there separately and I would always get to run it in the "Run Whacha Brung" class... I hadn't seen the car since maybe 94-95 when I went in the military. Now here it is in my driveway. The guy I got it from took great care of it. the motor had to go because it was just a 305 and had a bad cam in it finally.. I got the original transmission with all our old Tranny shop codes on it. It was completely rebuilt with a fresh converter about 6 months before they sold it. He also repainted it and did a decent job. Now all I ahve to do is finish getting things for my 400 pontiac to drop in.

well mine's sitting in San Francisco (I'm in Spokane, WA >.<)

but the story goes:

My uncle works as a mechanic and as a hobby he fixes friends' cars up as well. Well one of his friends decided to buy a 1984 Trans Am for his daughter. It needs some work so he takes it to my uncle and asks him to fix it up for him. So off he goes, fixing it up mechanically (the interior needs work too but I assume he was going to get it fixed by someone else as my uncles doesn't know much about that aspect). So engine runs and my uncles invested some parts and was getting ready to finish the job and give his friend the bill for parts (as they agreed upon). So his friend takes his daughter to see the car...sadly the daughter didn't like it and turned up her nose at it. So now my uncle's friend is in a bit of a fix...he has no use for the car himself and now his daughter doesn't want it either. So he offers to give it to my uncle in return for not having to pay for parts. My uncle says sure, why not. So there's my uncle, with a white 1984 T/A...complete with V8 (L69 I think? I don't know enough to tell if all the parts in there are great or not...). He offers to let me have it since he too doesn't have a ton of use for it. I like sports cars so I say "woot!" and now the car will be transported up here :P

and that's how I got my car...

PoorboyRS,

It's a good thing you got rid of her! If she burned your car what might she do with you. I'd still keep a look out for that one. If she comes around knife in hand RUN!

heres a good one...

when I first started looking for a firebird a few years ago in Reading Mi just a few miles from my house there was an 86 -> firebird sitting in a guys driveway, so one day I asked if it was for sale, he said no after a while he put the car in his garge but only about halfway in , the quarter panels & hatch were sticking out then about 2 weeks later it was gone....
So i started looking for another car, I foung a few beaters, a few good ones, & one day i saw a black one sitting in a guys yard I pulled up looked it over, no engine or trans but I bought it anyway, thinking I could just put any engine i wanted in it, but this ******* didn't give me the title, just an application for a new one. So I started trying to find the real title, I called the guy who's name was on the sheet, he lead me to this other guy who also didn't have it, but he turned out to be the guy that told me no in reading so I ended up buying his car anyway.... just not from him

i have 3 more stories if anybody's interested

My 88 IROC-Z I pulled out of a field where it was being used as a field rat condo. I took the interior completely out and cleaned her and then reassembled it with a rebuilt motor and clutch. I then had a weak moment and sold her to a friend for his son to drive to college. He in turn wrecked it and the ins. co. totaled it so I bought it back and fixed it back to its former glory.
It is like the saying goes " If you love something, set it free and if it returns it was meant to be"

Sounds like alot of effort for a stock one hehe
Keep the third gens from the bone yard, however, considering the lack of 3rd gens in my area boneyards, I'd suspected that all along

My dad bought the bird in 1995 from some dude in beverly hills MI, his wife wore the pants and made him sell it for 6300. in 1995 it had 36,000 miles on it and was used as a summer car. Dad owned the car up until 2004 when he gave it to me for graduation. BTW my firebird looks just like the bird at top left page of forms, the one appearing to b getting beat by a grey camaro

92 RS Heritage Edition

Well not only is this my first F-body, but this is my first car. And actually--i bought it today (well, my dad and i bought it today that is).

We've had been looking for a car for over a year. We've looked at 3rd Gen Supras, Stealth/3000GT's, Mustangs, and of course- F-bodies. My dad used to work at chevy, buick, and pontiac in the 80's so he definately would have prefered to get an F-body just because he can do practically anything to them. Over the past year, we've made offers on an 87 White Iroc (305TPI) and an 89 White formula (those are just the f-bodies--i'd hate to list all the cars). But anyway, i was working with my dad last weekend and we picked up the Auto shopper, which is notorious for having absolute **** in it, and i told my dad about this 1992 RS heritage edition camaro that was at this dealer like 20 miles away. Now it had EXTREMELY low miles but it said 'call for price', so we knew what that meant. And because of that, i basically disregarded the entire car and forgot about it. Well the dealer that the car was at (a new Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealer) was the dealer which my family had purcashed 2 brand new cars at previously, so my dad gave the dealer and call and talked to the guy who sold him his moutaineer. Let's just say that the price they wanted for this car was in the '5 figures' range. My dad talked the guy down a few thousand over the phone and called me in school and said he thinks it might not be bad taking a look at. So we plan to go look at it on Saturday (today).

We get to the dealer, and see it on the front line. The car exterior of the car is magnificent. It was white with the red heritage stripes. The body didnt have single dent, ding or scratch. So after finding absolutely nothing wrong with the outside (and you all know how rare that is on these carS), we go inside and get the keys. We open it and the interior is also immaculate. Then we start it up, and it purrrrrs. Well at this point my dad can find nothing wrong with it and to him that simply astonishes him, so we take it into the shop and put it up on a lift. Turns out it needs a rear differntial cover gasket (some 10 odd dollar repair), but thats it. So next is the road test, and again, the car passes with flying colors. So for once in all the time we've been looking at a car for me, he doen't even hesitate to jump right into the negioating. It took about 1/2 hour, but we came to an agreement in price, and we got signed all the papers and got it titled and everything.

All in all it was worth the wait, and everyone at the dealer was saying how nice of a first car it is. Im happy.

And i dont really know whether i should have written this in past or present tense because it just happened today??!?

Blackbird

I'll try to find a pic to scan later...

Well, here goes with a heck of a long story that I will try to make short. It concerns my love affair w/ 3rd gen Firebirds...

It started in 1986 (when I was 12) when my mom was given a white loaner 86 Firebird while our 86 Parisienne Safari was in for warranty work. I decided after one ride that those were just the coolest cars, and that I'd have one.

Fast foward to 15. My dad needed a work car, and it was stated that when I turned 16, I was going to get a beater car, and whatever my dad got, I could use on weekends for dates & such. After spending a Saturday looking at 5 year old Sunbirds, Grand Prix's and Buick Regals, we looked at a couple of Firebirds. They were trashed. One was filled w/ newspapers and cigar boxes halfway to the windowsills..

My parents dropped us kids off at home and went to look at a Firebird a couple of towns over. When they came back, they said the Firebird was already sold, but they had found a nice V6 Regal in the same area, that they intended to buy. I was not happy. I was then informed that on Monday, I was to go with my mother to pick up the car so I could verify the VIN.

Monday, I went under serious protest. My dad called from work before we left and asked if I was going to wash the Regal when we brought it home. I told him I'd compromise "If it's a Regal, and you want me to wash it, I'll pour soap on it and drive it into the pond next door" I felt better later, when we pulled up behind a black Firebird, and my mom said "There's the Regal!"

I got to drive it on weekends, and bought it from my dad 2 years later. I drove it from 1990 until 2000. during which time it was "totalled" three times, went from 88k to 275k, and was an all-around great car. it looked and ran great until the 3rd total in 2000, when it got run over at about 40 mph by a new Dodge Ram...

...and that's the story of the black car... R.I.P

LMK if you want to hear about the red/silver car, that's an interesting story...

Speedgraphics--

Thanks, i look foward to being a part of the f-body legacy that we have going on within this site. We're going to pick the car up on thursday, and ont he weekend we're going to completely re-detail the car and go over and clean it with a fine tooth comb. So after we do that, ill have some REALLY nice pics. But until then, i just have some that we took today when we went back to the dealer to see where they parked the car at. I dont have a cardomain site yet so i don't have anywhere to host the pics, so until i take some nice ones next week, ill just attach this one from today...

Looks like some spoiler 'spoilage' touch up needed above.
I can tell you, my dad ...and my parents objected to sports cars for me, and the Eldorado obsession where I was at that time able to get a new loan w/o a co signer, back in the first car days, I had to appease my co signing father.

The Buick Regal, on the other hand, is one of the best cars of the 80s, dude. Ask any GNX or Grand Nat owner. I've seen some VERY super fine T-types, and the nice thing is, a standard Regal can be retrofitted.

yea that front spoiler needs alittle touch-up...but i'm not that worried about it. Its sooo minor. My concern is that that thing will rip off one day. My dad wants to buy one right now to have as a spare in case it does rip off eventually. There like $300 at yearone though!!!

That front spoiler is insanely low though. The guy scrapped it against the ground just driving it onto the car lift!!?

you might as well plan on scraping the front on about everything, cause that's about what happens. It'll scrape on most anything. My old friend had a 92 25th aniv. RS that was getting kind of beat up under there, so we popped on a thin steel plate to help minimize the damage. Just scuffed up undernieth and scuffed up the metal and epoxied it on. paint it body color and you're good to go. just don't whack it on something. That will also keep the front lip from getting pulled under when it scrapes hard on a dip. There's probably a few other solutions to this problem as well. Nice lookin car though.. good score.

THE STORY OF MY T/A CLONE....
about a year ago I found an ad for an 86 Firebird no engine or trans, clear over in Bronson $400 so i went up there, to look at it, it looked ok primered body, no bondo, t-tops PW PL, 83 nose, T/A hood, mismatched rims, new exhaust all of which was intact icluding the manifolds.. all it needed was the motor & trans (so I thought) the hood was off the hinges & it was under a canopy so i didn't open the hood very far, (mistake #1) so after bumming $100 off my mom (mistake #2) I finally had a decent project car (like I said"so I thought") then we hitched a towstrap to the sway bar (mistake#3) I had to steer the sucker all the way home, talk about nerve racking!! I finally get it home & start cleaning it out I found the radiator, a water pump, 2 pulleys, an add on gauge cluster, the ECM, a ripped t-top bag, toys, pens, 2 brand new cigarette lighters & almost $5 in change....

modifications began the next day, once i had the hood off I realized the wiring had been hacked out, the ac & ps were cmpletely gone (even though i had a ps pump in my parts car), the radiator support had been welded back on (badly) & the exhaust manifolds were held in with "stretchy-cords", all of which I plan to fix ASAP... anyway since then I've I taken the nose & fenders off, replaced both inner fenders, bolted on T/A fenders, restored the headlight assemblies, took off the steering wheel, rear bumper, taillights console & replaced them with 83 parts, (all of which came of the same car) replace the hatch (tint was ripping off ) bolted on a spoiler, t/a rims (14 up front, 15 out back) & installed a round shiftknob, later I plan on bolting a V8 in & replacing the chopped wiring, replacing the cracked nose covering over the GFX holes in both fenders, & swapping in a tan interior.

Car: '82 Camaro Z28

OK here is my story. I havent had the car very long. Kinda long but interesting.

I have been working on an 88 Z24 Cavalier(still am). Well I wanted something that could be even more of a toy than it. My dad, and a few of my 8 uncles were constantly telling me to sell the Z24 and get something worth having. I am 20, so I am a big boy perfectly capable of making my own descisions. I make my own money and share a place with my brother, even though it ain't the greatest in the world its better than an apartment.

Anyway I got tired of them telling me what I should do with my money and time. So I told my uncle that rebuilds savaged cars to find me an a 98+ LS2 Trans Am. Well he found a 99 Formula for $3000. It was a repo and had the paint messed up on the 1/4. Well I didn't want it because it was an Auto and I wanted a 6 spd. This was before Christmas 2004.

Well a few months later I was kicking myself for not jumping on that car. I was talking about Camaros one day while visiting dad. He told me there was an 81 Camaro Z28 in the paper for $300 with no motor or tranny. Well I had him call. Turns out it was an 82 Camaro Z28 and the guy was selling it for his buddy. I was still interested. So we piled into moms truck. We get there in about 10 min. Yeah it was that close.

I look at this car forever. Probably an hour. It is all surface rust. I am just amazed it was in great condition for 300 bucks. So I go and get the money out of the bank, and go back after the title. I look at the title and it says J. Sexton is the owner(I am Terry Sexton). On the way back to get my grandfather to get the trailor and go after it, my dad id trying to figure out if J. Sexton is our cousin. The address is from where he used to live. Well when we get to my grandparents house and tell my grand father. He places a call to his brother the father of J. Sexton. Turns out I bought a car off of my cousin and didn't even know it.

Pretty long. congrats to whoever reads it in its entirety. If you wanna see the car click the WWW button below. By the way I also have those rare blue Z28 rocker emblems I found inside the car.

well I had a 91 chevy blazer s-10 and my neighbor decided to run down the side of it and give me 3,200 for it. So I owed like 1200 on it and took the money and looked around for a while and I noticed the 82 Z28 on the way to my grandma's house. Stopped one day and no one was there then another and the lady said her husband wasen't there. Finally one day I caught him and got to take it for a test drive it had the 305 cross fire injection it (junk)but didn't run bad and it was still inspected.Had my uncle who was a mechanic look at it and he said it wasen't in bad shape so I bought it and it been a love afair ever since. I guess the whole reason I always liked 3rd gen is my mom also had a 82 Z28 with the same engine and I can remember as a little kid going down the highway with the t-tops out and she say watch the hood and when she tromped it down the louver would open and the it would throw you back in your seat but that was back when the cross fire injection worked. when I got my car I had it for about 4 months or so and decided to get rid of that engine and not to soon after the tranny ran out on me. well basically the cars hasen't been legal for like 2 years but will be this summer and I put a crap load of performane parts on it and atleast shooting for 12.99@??? thats where I wanna be

Mine is secondhand ex-Japan.

Living in Australia means that many USA cars are rare and this is reflected in their price. I got mine through a dealer that imports used vehicles from Japan. 1988 IROCZ Convert 305TPI Auto....it was fitted with many extra's found only in Japan.
36000 kms and cost me 20k.
I love it.

I got my car in a trade. My first car was an 1984 jeep cherokee with only 30,000 miles when I got it. It used to be a granny car used to get to the store and back. I loved firebirds/camaros and found a third gen firebird around the corner from me. It wasn't for sale but I loved the body style, so I thought it couldn't hurt to leave a note to see if they were interested in selling. A few days later I recieved a call and it turns out that they were interested in selling. The car was a heap when I got a chance to get a close look at it. The body was near perfect, unfortunately the rest of the car wasn't. The interior was all torn up, the engine would barely idle and the tranny was gone. It would only go into the first 2 gears and it was a 700R4. But either way I was in love. I loved how it looked and the feeling I got from driving it, even though it was a rough ride. The car was their only means of transportation so I wasn't able to buy her straight up. They proposed a trade and I was fine with that. My cherokee (plus some side cash) for their 3rd gen. I was in high school during all of this and in my senior year I made my car my senior project. I pulled the motor, trans and rearend. I put in a crate motor 350, and got a turbo350 trans and 9 bolt rearend off my shop teacher. The interior and exterior could still use some work, but I had priorities. She still is a work in progress, and probably always will be since you can always do more.

I bought mine new at the dealer, they didn't have what I wanted and had to call around untill they found one that matched what I wanted, it was about 200 miles away and had it shipped to me. It was about $14,500 , seems like a lot for a RS 3rd gen doesn't it, I would have got a Z28 but the insurance was a LOT more and I think the sticker was closer to $19,000

Car: '85 Camaro SC
Engine: only hopes
Transmission: and dreams
A friend of mine wanted to park his Camaro at my house since the city has a "no junk cars" rule. Well, a couple days after he brought it over, he told me that he wanted to sell it...and the first $200 had it. It's an '85 SC that needed a LOT of work, blown 2.8, big dent in the DS door, baaaad interior, etc.. Well, i gave him $150, bought another '88 for parts and plan to dump way too much money in it, but I have big dreams.....you gotta have dreams, right? <p>She looks rough, but here she is as a work in process. (Don't laugh and point! )<br>
<p>
By the way, thanks to everyone one here at TGO, you guys know your stuff and have helped me immensely.

I bought an 84 Trans Am and boy did i get suckerd! It was advertised as being restored and the whole 9 yards. When i went to see it the paint was horriblr, the interior was a mess, only had one door handle, exhaust leaking out of the manifolds and many more budget fixes to name a few. The trans am bug bit me tho and i payed $3400 Cdn...about 2800-3000 US$. The original plan was to change the carpet (which had been tarred down) and the seats and a few minor things. Well it has been almoist a year now and i have a full scale project on my hands. The car has been completely stripped and has extensive rust which is going to be blasted soon and fixed right! This car will be a true pony hunter when it's finished! Hell i even made a song about f- bodies to sing when i drive around in my buddy's mustang

Upon selling my old, tired 1990 Corsica, I was looking for a Camaro with a V8. Didn't care if it was a 350 TPI or an L03 V8, I just wasn't going to get one with a V6.

I looked on Autotrader and recycler.com forever and never really found any good deals until I looked on eBay. There was this guy in Los Angeles selling this really good looking RS. So I came on here and asked questions and found out it was a good car.

So I waited until 5 seconds were left until I bid my max, $2,100 on it. Ended up only ending at $1,850. I was so excited, I felt like I was going to have a heart attack, because I had either wanted an F-body or a Corvette for a really long time. I couldn't concentrate in class for the 2 weeks I had to wait before I could pick it up.

I had sold my Corsica for $900 and saved up the remaining $900 from my job (Not bad for an 18 year old to pay for his own car I think) and finally we went to go pick it up. I had seen 3rd gen Camaros on the road, but I never had really got a really good closeup look of them.

It was a 1.5 hour drive to go pick it up. We had McDonalds and I had diarreah so bad and we were in Mid-day L.A. traffic so there wasn't much I could do. I felt like I was going to crap myself. My mom rushed to the place where we were going to pick it up (it was a gas station.. hmm) and the second I got out of the car and saw it sitting there my diarreah feeling just vanished. I felt calm and excited. I dropped everything and ran towards it.

I examined it while my dad went in and told him we were there to pick it up. Then I started it up. I heard the V8 rumble and knew then it was mine. Popped the hood, checked out the motor for the ride home, examined all the features of the car (I thought the automatic closing hatch was the coolest thing in the world), and finally sat down in it.

My Corsica felt like a 4x4 compared to this low car. I felt like I was sitting on the ground but it felt like it fit me. The seat was designed just for me, along with the steering wheel and the shifter. I fell in love and couldn't wait for the 1.5 hour drive home.

Then on the ride home, I opened her up. I thought it was a super fast car because honestly I had never really ridden in a fast car because I was only 17 at the time. Then I would stop and floor it and feel the torque push me back in the seat. I was loving it to death. It was highway all the way home and was surprised that the gas gauge hardly went down the whole way home, all 89 miles of it.

Then I get back and my neighbor with a '74 Vette exclaims "hey nice car man, nice step up!" and I felt so proud that the owner of the beautiful Vette thought my new car was cool. Then I took it home, took pictures and cleaned it up.

Then, about almost a year later, I realize this car is extremely slow and am planning alot of things for it, but I still love it to death. I will remember the day I picked it up for the rest of my life.
