question

just wondering, were there any recalls made for 88 Iroc's?
(seatbelts, fuel lines, etc., normal dealer-fix stuff)

anyone? I'm asking mostly cause I had someone tell me there was a recall on seatbelts on certain thirdgens, and I didn't know if this was true or not, and also if there were any other recalls that might affect/did affect my car (1988 Iroc-z w/350).

the seat-belt recall is rather well-documented in the technical articles here at thirdgen.org

it would help to do a search for it...

however, the recall applied to 1984-1990 models. supposedly the latch button on the seatbelt connector would discolor, and possibly fail to work, therefore causing the driver to suffer massive injuries in an accident.

the dealers will know if the car has received new latches, they recorded the vin codes of the vehicles that were upgraded.

if your car hasn't been done, the dealers should do it free fo charge.

The seatbelt thing as mentioned was/is in effect for model years 1982-1990. The problem was lack of a UV stabilizer, which cause the red plastic latches to become brittle and disintergrate over time. I have seen this happen, it's fairly obvious to see. The replacements have metal bands around them (the latch), I have them in my car now. Hmm, too bad it's too cold out to go take a picture of what I am babbling about.
