lost keys, how to remove entire hatch ?

lost keys, how to remove entire hatch ?
ot an 88 free today im gonna part it really fast in next couple days, theres no keys and i need to keep the entire hatch assembly since its neater than the 82 has on it
what can i do to get the hatch removed without hurting anything besides the lock cylinder ? drill it out, or do something fro inside the car ?
thanks for anything, car should be here in an hour or two

does ignition have to be on for hatch to work ?

Engine: 350 firebreathing inches of Small Block Chevrolet
Transmission: A 700R4 that has trouble handling the formentioned 350.
Or if the key is off in the manual tranny car I know the hatch can be released for the switch without the parking brake on.
