block heaters rare?
i was just wondering why these are a big deal, are they rare on our cars, i have one on my 84 l69 t/a and never thought much of it?
not really rare, just another option that narrows production numbers down.
My 91 RS convertible is one of a small number of 91 Camaro's with a factory block heater. I've gotta wonder how many people ordered block heaters in convertibles, probably not that many. But does it make it worth more since it was somewhat unusual? No.

Lets just say probably 99% of the cars destined for Canada or other cold climates had block heaters from the factory.

My '82 doesn't have a block heater, nor do I recall seeing any on Third Gen cars at the various cruises around Toronto I attend. But I will keep my eye out from now on. I do believe many new cars sold in Canada now have them as factory equiptmnt as part of a "cold weather" package.

My 82 T/A originally from southern Ontario did not have a factory block heater. I put in an aftermarket one (even though the car is not driven in winter)

My car was originally sold in Minneapolis, MN, no block heater. I do, unfortunately, have the rear window defogger though. i think factory block heaters are uncommon.
