A unique year for options, 1987 was. The "base" Z28 came with rear drums (base) and rear discs were NOT an option. But if you got the Z28 with the IROC-Z option (which it was from 1985 thru 1987), then rear discs became an option. This same scenario was true for G92 (high performance axle ratio), and KC4 (engine oil cooler).
In 1986 and previous, you could get almost any option on any car, including rear discs on a V8 Sport Coupe!

I have a 87 IROC-Z which had rear drums as standard, J65 was the rear disc option. Most Dealer IROC ordered cars with the 305 TPI
were drum rears for some reason. 350 TPI cars had rear discs, but you paid for them as part of option package.
