My car "may" have been raced in a Firehawk race series.
My car is a 1988 Trans Am that was built for and race in the Players LTD./GM Motorsport series that ran in Canada. After 1988, it became a promotional car for Denon Electronics and was raced in other races (I don't have the details yet).
I have lots of information on the player's series cars, as they were purpose built and all equally prepared.
One of the similarities between our cars is that Bill Mitchell prepared all the 1986 cars for the series (carb'd). In 1987 and up, they cars were delivered to the teams from GM through authorized dealers and the teams installed the roll cages, seat, exhuast, etc. I would assume that a 1986 Players car would share much in common with your car.
I know I am not exactly what your looking for, but I thought I would drop a note. Information on the race cars is difficult to find.
If your car was ever raced in Canada, I know of a source that keeps motorsport information. Perhaps they would have pictures of your car at that time.
Mark.

Thanks for dropping me a line!
Yes, you are correct. My car was built by Bill Mitchell. In fact, Bill built several cars for us including my Dad's Camaro back in 1976 and a Mercedes that my Dad used in the Cannonball in 1979.
The present car that I have is a 1985 IROC. This was our first of about 5 or 6 cars that we raced in the Firehawk Series from 1985 - 1991 (including a couple of 1989 1LE's).
This car is obviuosly not a 1LE but it does have many 1LE components - original "test" components from GM as these were being developed.
I am in the process of completely restoring this car - although I have left on many of the 1LE upgrades - so it won't be as "stock" as some people would like for the year.
Glad to hear that someone else is restoring an old race car as well. Let me know if you are in need of any specific parts - I have MANY left over parts. Things you can't buy anymore - still brand new and in the box.
Would love to see pics of your car.
Charlie
PS - No we never raced in Canada - although I think I do recall seeing a Denon car at Watkins Glen. I'll check the old pictures this weekend and let you know.

As far as parts go, I am not sure what I need yet. There are some GM Race only parts that I am sure are long since discontinued that I am eagerly looking for. As an example, there was a side exhaust system, air ducts for the front brakes, special shocks, etc. I have GM part numbers, so I need to see if anything is still around.
Drop me an email with the sort of things you have spares of. I might need something. Anything proto-type or race inspired is always of interest to me.

I forgot to add, throughout my Players LTD GM motorsport info, there is always the firehawk stuff mentioned. I might have some pictures of Camaro/firebirds that ran in those series. Not sure what I have yet, as I got a pile of great info today that I have to sift through.

Great Website Mark!!
I got your e-mail today and will reply to you asap.

Yes - my dad ran the Cannonball. He drove the Mercedes 300SD in 1979. I think they came in 8th or something in like 36+ hours. I heard about that new book by Bock Yates - I'll have to check it out...

I highly recommend the book. Brock Yates is one of my favorite writers anyway ( along with Peter Egan ), and the book tells a more realistic story than the movies ( although I like them too ). That event must have been something to experience.
