anyone seen repro door jamb stickers?

I'm trying to find blank repro Compliance and Tire Pressure door jamb stickers. Original GM PN#s are 10465978 A & B.

I saw them advertised a couple of months ago--maybe on Ebay or on some thread, but can't remember where. Duh!

I've checked all the standard sources, Year One, Classic Industries, etc. but no luck. Should have bought them when I first saw them. I think they were only $5 or $10.

There is not one universal design for door jamb stickers. They changed every so often. If someone is searching for door jamb stickers, I assume that they're concerned with the originality of their car, which is why they're looking for the stickers in the first place. Well that ebay auction is a good cookie-cutter approach, but it's not going to be accurate for a whole lot of applications.

I'd love to get some 1982-era blank stickers to replace my damaged ones with, but I've never seen them available anywhere. No way those ebay ones would suffice. "PRINTED IN U.S.A. 03MR80", stamped typeface is OCR-B and part numbers 14021726 / 14021727, but even with this level of detail I really doubt I'll ever find them :

I also have replacements for my 92 GTA when it's door jam stickers finally wear out. Mine though are a totally different design from the earlier ones. I searched for some door jam stickers for my 84 15th and I never found any...

That auction sayin through 92 is 100% It looks NOTHING like mine. This is what mine look like:

That is however a picture of my C.A.R.B. stickers for my SLP Tri-Y headers but they EXACTLY match the GM stickers on the drivers side door...

my point exactly 92gta. counting yours, there're at least 3 different thirdgen designs I know of, and I'm sure there are more I haven't seen.

the ebay ones are some sort of one-fits-all generic design, which in my opinion is pointless, and hurts a car's originality. stuff like that leads to snowball effects... where the guy sells his car with generic stickers, then the next owner is like "oh yeah baby, 100% original car" and he's totally clueless and unable to verify, etc.

door stickers are the sort of thing than 99.999% of people don't care about and never look for. If someone is wild enough to want to BUY new ones, they are obviously interested in originality and preservation.. might as well get valid ones for their car, or don't get any at all.. just my opinion.

To my mind, having genuine door stickers is one of the most obvious things that adds to an authentic restoration.

Too bad no one seems to make what we're looking for.
With the ease of doing graphics nowadays I guess we'll have to reproduce them ourselves.

I bought my second Recaro in the U.S. this summer and brought it back here to Canada. I knew that the compliance door sticker was missing and that Canada Customs usually uses this to validate the year of the vehicle.

So, I took along my Firebird ID book. Sure enough, when I arrived at the border they hassled me about not having the sticker. So I pointed out (with proof from the ID book) that the VIN and cowl plate also indicated year and month of build. Based on that, they let me by.

on my 03MR80 stickers, the grey boxes seem to be made out of some weird stuff, like maybe carbon-paper or some similar process ..? The lettering, barely visible in the pic, is stamped in that area and it makes a dark impression, rather than being done with ink. The black blobs and streaks you see over those grey boxes is where someone has ripped / partially peeled the stickers, and the black is the result of the same effect.. the carbon-paper effect. So if that's true, that would be hard to reproduce. I dunno. Either way, I don't expect to ever find blank stickers.

The stickers are made to self destruct upon removal. Luckily mine were taped over when it was repainted. Why the doors were chosen for this info remains a mystery to me, what if your T-Boned and your door needs replaced ?

My driver's side door on my Iron duke bird has some rust coming in. I really need to fix it but I may have to replace the door. I don't want to do that because I want to keep the original door jamb stickers in place. My goal is to restore this car to tip top shape and show it. I want it to have all the original stuff on it.

I would like to know if there really is some sore of repro stickers.....

The door jamb stickers are the least of my worries. When I show my cars the doors are closed, like most of the other cars. However the hood is open.

Personally I need the emissions and tune up stickers for the bottom side of the hood. Screw the door jambs.

No they do the underhood stickers Drew needs for his car. They Genuine GM reproduction stickers and other repro stickers. They don't do door sticker though to me knowledge because for that they need the VIN and then it gets legal. That why nobody does RPO labels or door jam stickers.

Best thing is to just keep searching until you find blank ones like I did them have a custom graphics place in your town print on them for you.

I think where the "legality" issure arises is when someone tries to make thier car into something else that it was not originally.

I think its called Misrepresentation.

Otherwise, I would not see the need for such a law.

I agree they are pricey and while I have not bought anything from them, I know in the MOPAR World, ECS is the gold standard for reproductions.

Your metallic decals look fine and very much like the originals. It's the GM jamb decals which are pretty far off from font an such. I'd say it does the job of replacing the data, but it's pretty clear the print is off.

I had the guy that repainted mine paint everything except jambs where factory stickers were.. he was able to paint where the door skin wraps around but the paint in the jamb is original.. it matches perfect and you really can’t tell..

He did paint the jamb on body of the car so it looks awesome.. same with the hood and the sticker behind the plate that says not to pop tonneau with trunk lid open..

He was even able to do some heat and surgery to safely remove and reuse the IROC Z emblem from the back.. I saw an NOS gold one go for $500.. the reproductions are either stickers that look totally wrong, or have a different “R” in IROC than the original which bothered me..

Just in case it didn’t come out right I took High Def pics of the stickers in good solid light so I could edit & print them on sticker paper, laminate them, and put them back on in the right spots.. I was able to find some of the stickers online, but vin# and part ID stickers were not available.. I was most concerned about the ASC sticker which was stamped June 1988 and unique to the verts..

To be honest, the reproductions shown by Danny are not something I'd put on my car. Each decal is an incorrect replacement, and if I was trying to do a true restoration, none of these would pass. They look good, don't get me wrong, but when looking for correctness, these won't cut it.

CPC Norwood just restored the very last IROC-Z to come off the Norwood assembly line. Every detail is perfect and I can guarantee that he would agree with my statements. It would be nice if someone did "exact" replications of these things.

That I don't know. With the information provided to Phil from original factory workers and the knowledge he has, it's very possible that he was able to do them himself in the perfect font and format, but I'm just speculating.

Re: anyone seen repro door jamb stickers?

A good graphic designer could do an exact replica if you had the original to go off. You could even nail the font and the way it was printed. On the originals it almost looks as if it’s a blank decal from GM with standard GM logo in black, and some standard black script and then the car info was almost pressed onto it.. it looks like a stamp or typewriter type.. you could even make it look old and edit the car info font to look like a different ink that was pressed on instead of crisply printed on..

A lot of the common stickers like warnings or the belt routing are available still
