89 IROC l98 & T5

There is a guy that comes into my work that claims to own an 89 IROC with a factory installed l98 and T5. To my knowlage GM has never installed a T5 behind a 350. Did they do this for one year or something? He claims to have documentation proving that his car is completely stock.. Should I hit him up for some photo copies?

Many have tried to say that their car is an original 350 5 speed, none have succeeded. It doesn't matter what he shows you, it's

I talked to him tonight about it and he says that he will give me a photo copy.
If he does I will scan it in and post.

because he doesn't drive the car around and it is the same to look at his "proof" (I am assuming a window sticker, it might be a build sheet) as it would be to get the vin from him.

its going to say 350 tpi (5.7) with automatic transmission on it, then what he did was cross out the automatic part and hand print in 5 speed, lol

He will say something like GM made a typo and had to fix it.

Why care what somebody "claims"?

It doesn't exist. Period. It may have that combo in it now, but it didn't come that way. Period. Take it to the bank.

If somebody is willing to tell a whopper like that and expect others to believe it, just smile and nod and say "uh-huh" a bunch of times, and go off in a corner and laugh at his foolishness. It's not worth the hassle of confronting someone on something like that, unless you catch him trying to rip somebody off selling it as something that doesn't exist.

It is better to be merely thought of as a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. He has removed all doubt.

I am gonna use that one alot.

I am thinking that if his car really came from the dealership like that then the dealership did it. I have heard of that happening. BTW does (or did) the dealer make the window sticker or does the factory?
