Good price
Hey guys, I'm really thinking of selling my car for another 4th gen. I really miss my old car.
I was wondering if anyone could offer a good asking price. I don't want an actual offer, just an idea of what I should ask for it. I'll be as detailed as I can.
It's a 1991 Z28 Convertible.
Paint= yellow. Has some flaws but I'd most likely get them all fixed before I sell. It is a Maaco paint job, but it's pretty good. No dents/ dings, just some chips. It was painted in November. It's a deep, shiny yellow, the same color as the 94-95 Mustang's (NOT the new ones)
Interior-mostlyly black interior now. It is in perfect condition except for a silver dollar size tear in the driver's seat left side. The leather on the steering wheel is also in poor condition. Other than that, door panels, sail panels, weather stripping, dash pad all perfect.
Top- Could use a replacement, but does NOT need it. It does not leak. There is a good 12" cut in it on top of the drivers seat where someone cut it. I covered it with black duct tape. It's pretty noticible, but it doesn't look all that bad.
It's a 305 TPI with a 5 speed (being a convertible, I hear that's pretty rare). The clutch is brand new. It has 124,000 Miles on it, but runs strong, and it does burn a little oil on startup, but that's it. It has a 3" Flowmaster exhaust, and high flow cat. Regular oil changes, basic maintenece, etc. Only thing I'm not sure about is the engine mileage. As far as I know (never really checked) It's not the original engine. At least that's what the previous owner told me. Engine compartment is pretty clean. I'd clean it up real good before I sold it though. There's NO rust on the body of the car, anywhere. Including floor panels. Everything works, and it's never been in an accident. It has two brand new back tires, but the front ones are pretty bald. I'd replace them first.
Alright. I know that's a lot of info thrown together, but it's everything I can think of. If you have any questions, just ask.
So what do you guys think? My father said I'm crazy to ask $6,000.

Well if you consider what Blue Book value is on the car 6K is way out of line. For what you described around 4K is a good price. Thirdgens rarely are worth more than 5-6K at the most. Most are around 2 to 3K.
