Headlight restoration

I'm trying to fix my headlight motors. From what i've learned they have 2 kinds of headlight system used on third gen firebirds.I have the original setup from 84 with 4 relays and i have all the realys missing. And i'm not sure if the motors are working. My question is, do you think is it better to try to fix the original setup from 84 or change them with the later ones?Is it necessery to do all the wiring from the scratch in order to switch them with the later models?Which one is more relieble and cheaper?Which year has the best headlight setup do you think?Money is not the first priority, but i'll be able to fix more stuff if i can do this in more economical ways.

Fix the old motors. Converting involves a lot of time, $$$, and skill. Repairing a bad motor takes minutes.

How relieble are the old ones?I don't really want to end up fixing the headlights every year. From what i understand mostly the plastic thing inside the motors are the biggest problem.Weather is pretty harsh up here if they're gonna give me headeache every year i would like to change them.
