We seem to be hearing more about 1LE cars that came with options, here is one that is pretty much bare bones ... check out the RPO tag. No Radio.

All 1LE's had no radio. They also had no ac. You don't need a radio or ac in a car meant for racing.

Actually your wrong. Not being rude, but it is fact. I have tons of supporting information. I have build sheets of 1LE's with options. Through 1989-1992, there were at least 200 or more 1LE cars produced for the Players Challenge series. All came with stereo's, power windows, locks, and mirrors, and many other options. The goal of the series was show room stock racing, thus the cars had to resemble showroom.

Also, all the police version of the 1LE's (BC4) have options.

So what I would say is a more true statement is that you are likely to find a 1LE with options more than you will find one with out.

But if we are talking about 1LE cars that are not BC4 (police) or R7U (Players), then I agree that many of these would be your stripped down race cars.

It just seems rare to see a 1LE with no options, rather we all seem to talk about 1LE's WITH options.

I'll have to post pictures of a 1LE I know of with T-tops just for fun. But I'll first have to get a picture of the RPO sticker otherwise no one will believe me.

OK, well i guess if you call a b4c a 1LE then ok. I also wasn't aware that the players cars were sold to the public. When you refer to a model of car usually you refer to one that was available to the public, not something that was only sold to cops or a racing series. I call a b4c a b4c, not a 1le.

Actually, all players cars were to be resold after the race series, hence the reason they were ordered with options. There were a few that were sold to the public that were never raced, perhaps ones that were not picked up, or the driver's backed out. And the cars had to be owned by the drivers, so from a dealer point of view, they were just a buyer of car. Had you and I known the code to order, we could have walked in and bought one too.

We are saying the same thing. Just have to clarify which group of 1LE's we are talking about. :-)

Ok, that's funny. Never thought of it, but you must have the most loaded 1LE made!

I am no 1LE expert, but my no air cars (2) do not have vents in the dash like this car has. Is that correct on this car?? I know they did not have the vents on the earlier cars, but what about the later ones??

Thanks

Tom

Don't the 1LE's still have a heater, so wouldn't the vents be for the heater?

There is a pull handle for vents under the dash. I will shoot some pictures of mine tonight.
