but this would have been a great production model for gm to make, i bet it would of sold sooo many!

Yes i can vouch for the 4.3l gm motors and the fact that i havent changed the oil in my s10 in three years jus add oil wen it needs it lol

They ran a best 0-60 of 5.98s (using something called a Vericom) and a best quarter at 14.77 at 94.6 with a less than purfect launch.

Anyways, I wasn't sure if everyone knows about this and I missed it or what. If yall want I'll try to get the article scanned in the next few days.

Would it be possible to post this permanently under the 'media' section of TGO?

not changing your motor oil will certainly lead to ticking... followed by knocking and seizing shortly after.

Jeremy,
If I understand him correctly, he is always changing oil... its not a pour this out and add that... Its Burn this off (or it leaks out) and add that.

I will concede that yes it is a good way to get gunk buildup...

My wife had a saturn with the dohc 1.9L I4 that was notorious for burning oil. I added a quart between oil changes and still did full oil changes every 3,000 miles. Just adding a quart every 1,500 miles and never draining it sounds like a really really bad idea to me.

Re: Prototype Turbo V6 Iroc

I agree 100%, not a wise thing to do IMHO.

I had a 1990 Riviera, with the 3800, at 3000 miles without fail it would give me a low oil light... it was always 1/2 qt low... I always knew when to change oil in it.

Re: Prototype Turbo V6 Iroc

haha, that sounds very convenient. I keep track of all maintenance I do, including oil changes, on a piece of paper in the glove box with the date and milage for each item. I don't do it for my Trans Am though because I never seem to drive it more than 3,000 miles in a year! 1 oil change every spring is all it needs.

Re: Prototype Turbo V6 Iroc

On my daily driver, I actually go one step further, I have a list of all gas fill-ups. I keep track of Miles, MPG (as per ECM), Fuel used (as per ECM), Actual Fuel (as per pump) Date, Exterior temp, and Pump number... The Data is fascinating, I have actually learned that at some gas pumps at the same station I get more gas per fill-up, so I use that pump when its open...

I have a separate paper for the repairs, and oil changes... I made a nifty chart for both if anyone wants me to upload it... How we got here I have no idea.
