HELP! Is this a decent deal?

Hi, I am new to the boards and trying to become a third gen owner! I am looking at a '92 Heritage Edition with a 5 Speed and 305. There are several of the normal problems with it. Interior is in ok shape, paint is ok (white w/red), there is a problem with the reverse gear in the tranny synchronising. The car has about 150,000 miles there is some minor body damage on the front ( a dent about the size of a softball) and a bunch of other "little things". It is basically a good base for restoration. He is asking $3000 for it and will not go down. is this a decent deal? or should I keep looking? Any input would be greatly appreciated as this is a time sensitive situation.

I wouldn't pay that. I had a chance at a mint 91 rs (not a heritage), but it was only 2900 with the same specs and less miles. It was basically a get in and drive car, and in california too (land of rip me off everything). Hold out for something in better condition and/or cheaper.

Hell no.
There is nothing about that car with 150K on it that is worth any more than $1500. With the damage to the body, and trans problem, this car is not worth $3K.
A '92 Z28, L98 WS6 with TTOPS in that shape is worth $3K, but not the car you are looking at.
There are plenty of other ThirdGens out there in better shape for less money. Keep looking and you will see they are not too hard to find, don't let someone sell you a bill of goods either about how they have a Camaro Firehawk that is one of one made. With questions about a car you are looking at check here and there are plenty of people that will find the slightest amount of bs with the deal.
Good Luck.

Is it a Z28 or an RS?

The T5 doesn't have a reverse syncro. You have to put it in a forward gear then reverse in order for it to align.

The heritage package is just stripes, nothing special.

Bottom line... the newest thirdgen on the roads is 12 years old. They had ****ty paint to begin with, even if they have the original paint, it probably isn't very good. Nearly every thirdgen is going to have issues, and they are worth whatever someone is willing to pay.

If you like the car and it drives ok, and you can afford it and tolerate the constant maintenance, then go for it. If you have any doubts, then keep looking.

Thanks for the input, everybody! I am going to hold out for a better deal. I haven't really familiarized myself with the value of the third gen cars, but I think that $3000 is a little steep, especially considering the input you all have given me! Thanks again!

For 3000 maybe you can get a 1976 camaro lt in bad condition here in Sweden. Sounds cheap to me
