HOT ROD Revisited
While cleaning up I went back to my tattered and torn issues of Hot Rod from 1982 and 1983....there is obvciously some info on the third gen GM iron, but there is also a seeming lack.... why?
I have no idea but maybe the cars were too new to have the hot rod status?
Anyone else who can do quality scans of Hot Rod is welcome. I'm going to submit small articles verbatum here to start and let you guys add opinions and additional information. At least one comment made in Hot Rod left me puzzeled.

Well, the point I'm making is the cars were factory new at the time of my own subscription so it's reports on what Hot Rod editors dished out from GM or the other sources.
At the time, the 3rd gen was just coming out (1982)

Look at the times and sports cars over all. The Camaro and Bird were praised up and down in C&D and a lot of other car rags about its style and handling. They all agreed that the power was low, but everything else was fine.

I haven't had the time to submit content here but I will say my mags from the era have only a small bit of content but the issue of sports cars offered during the early eighties was seriously hampered by restrictions of both fuel standards and insurance.
I think owning a sports car is less restrictive today and certainly more power on hand and better construction all around.
The book on Pontiac I mentioned in this forum has a Firebird ad from 1986 with Richard Petty. I'll post that one soon as I haven't seen it here yet.
