A family member is thinking of selling an 86 IROC-Z28, 5-speed with 36k orig miles, Cherry Red with T-tops. It has the 305 with the 4bbl carb (the car is badged HO but I don't think the badging is right, RPO code is not for the HO motor and it only has one snorkel into the air cleaner). It has been adult owned for the last few years.

Body is in flawless condition except for an after-market spoiler which is cracking and needs to go and the tape deck which does not play tapes.

Motor is ok but needs a timing and carb adjustment (sometimes had to start and diesels).

I was thinking of buying it as a hobby / project car. Edmunds has it for $1600, kbb for $2200. What do you think it is worth?

It's a great, fun car to drive. I'm just curious if 1) what is a good offer to make and 2) if I don't buy it, what should she ask for or have as her "minimum offer".

 

I'd go 1/2 way between the 2 prices to start with.

 

The VIN number isnt H.O. it is actually H and zero. It is the LG4.
