I have a 500le it's been in the family since it was new. Mine never had the number plate. The dealership said it was on order back in 1984, but never called us and no one ever checked to see if it came in. Someone mentioned that they had a pre-plated car. Could mine be one of these cars? If so why didn't they have a plate?

I have all the documents for this car including the build sheet. Is there any way to find out what number my car is?
