G engine or H engine?!?

G engine or H engine?!?
The guy at the parts store keeps asking me if my engine is G or H. Just so I know, What is the difference?

This is just where I ended up while searching for what engine codes were available. Thought that maybe my answer would be here....other than that, just wasn't thinking I guess. Thanks for the quick reply!

This is the appropriate board for this question. We're dealing with decoding VINs, which is talked about on this board quite often.

Look at the 8th digit of your car's VIN.... that's the engine code.
Assuming you have a carbed motor: G = L69, the HO motor. H = LG4, the base-model 4-barrel.
