The base price of a 1987 Z28 was $12,819. The mandatory destination charge was $414. The 305 TPI was a $745 option. The automatic tranny was $490. There were "three" option packages available. The pic spells them out. I won't go into the pricing or details of the individually available options here.

Thank you very much willie. There were 2 coulums so i came up with a price of 17,007-16,626. My dad said the tag on the car was near 18k... Thanks willie. And sorry for the multi-hijacking.

Heritage Purple Haze Wheel colours.....My Z-28 purple haze convertible has the silver stripes and the silver wheels. Ok, I would have liked red or Black or even white....but you learn to live with purple..specially when the top is down. It does have the original paint,stripes,top ect. and the stripes look better with the grey interior and the black top down. If the wheels had been purple.....well.... Have thought about new paint colour for sometime but just haven't talked myself into to change yet. Love Camaros too much. enjoy !!!!!silver

 

Travis, don't touch that color. If you decide to paint, get another car. There were only 1254 Z28 convertibles built in 92. The purple Heritage Edition was a 1/2 year package. The original colors for the Heritage Edition were red, white and black. Green and purple came later. I don't know the exact number of purple Heritage Edition convertibles produced, but I'd say it's worth keeping that color. Plus, I'm sure you'll obtain respect from anybody that knows what you have.

I think Willie summaried it totally correct about this thread. I have a Red 92 Z-28, L98, auto, with Heritage package, fully loaded - bought the car new in 92 (38 miles). It has Black decals for the strips, they are not painted. The simulated hood scoops are painted black only. So if the strips are painted, somebody did it and if it does match the color combo - somebody did it, not from the factory.

I believe the hood blisters were molded in black, not painted black. This was true with all the colors of hood blisters.....how do I know......I tried to order a Teal Z28 in 1991 and one of the reasons they wouldn't tackle it was because they did not have Teal blisters.

The trim piece on the doors & Fender & Quarters (Dent Guard) that started in 1987 on Firebirds and 1988 on Camaros SOME are also UNPAINTED solid color... My 1987 Yellow cars are unpainted, You can cut off an end and its still Yellow... If this is the case then yes it would make sence that some of the the camaro's blisters were in fact unpainted... It would be interesting then to note that the Metallic cars would have had to have had painted blisters like the bump dent guards on the doors...

As for your 1991 Teal car... Then ORDER the car in teal, take the blisters and PAINT them... does not seem like a difficult fix...

Wrong!! I told them I would accept the black blisters and have them painted locally. GM said there was too much chance that the door jambs, underhood, etc. could end up black and the exterior of the car would be painted teal.

I thought of that.

Sorry but the Hood blisters are painted - there was a recall, had to take the car to chevy to get them repainted. Also 3038 car were built with the L98 :-).
I also have 87 Z-28, 97 Z-28 and 02 SS and 07 Jeep Hemi

I do not doubt that they told you that... Considering that the car would have been patined all at one time, I suspect that the Door jambs, and the under the hood parts would have been painted teal, i suspect that all of the Z28 specific parts may have been painted black or unpainted as some parts are supplied by the supplier pre-painted. The spoiler, and the blisters to be accurate... it would make more sence...

If you could have had the car painted that way with the black jambs it would definately make the car one of one...

I can guarantee there was never a recall on hood blisterers.....there may have been a product update, but it would not have been a recall. Recalls are for safety related items. I still don't believe my blisters are painted.

Ok - I agree wrong choice of word - product update and they did repainted the hood blisters for me. The sun caused the damage to the blisters, he took a piece of masking tape, attached it, and pulled up the paint on it. The blisters were turning white in some areas. They repainted them per the product update. Did not cost me a penny - 3 years after I purchased the car.
