Maybe they were just trying to find some way to make the Camaro's look better!

riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.....

Camaros are more popular and are more of an icon then birds. GM made the Camaro to fight the mustang... the firebird was supposed to be a 2 door, 2 seater OHC roadster. Delorean was forced to change plans for a Fbody based car. Delorean might still get his wish.... The Pontiac Solstice is coming out, and there have been rumors that the name will change to... you guess it...firebird.

I've managed to find quite a few plastic models of Firebirds and I know there are quite a few KITT/Knight Rider tie-ins. Also, I have several Matchbox 3rd gen Firebirds.

Simple answer to both questions.

Demand.

They build what they know they can sell. Thirdgen memorabilia doesn't sell well.

There are firebird models out there tho. I have a 91/92 GTA model and a 91/92 Formula model. I've seen TTA models too.
