from 1987 on if you wanted rear discs you had to get posi also, it was part of the package options that were availble those years. Prior to 87, posi and rear discs were seperately available options.

Yes, but posi and rear disc's were seperate options from 82-86. There are some members of this board that have non posi rear ends but still have rear disc's on their 85's.

Okay. My 85 came with the F41 handling package. It's a poor man's Z/28. Posi and 4-wheel discs included. Unfortunately, the rear discs are the iron Delco-Moraine style.

Never hear of that, does anyone have anymore info on it? Thanks.

Gearhead...,

I guess the only thing you need to know about those iron calps is to avoid them. They were the subject of a recall in stick shift (but not automatic third gens). I've got the PBRs in my garage and Dyno Don has a 9 bolt sitting around. All I need is the money.

AFAIK, the posi and 4-wheel discs were standard with the F41 sport suspension.

Those iron calipers are GARBAGE. Ask me how I know this.

Anyway, I'm yet another 85 owner that had disk brakes and no posi.

Let's just say that my stopping distance would be considered "good" for a fully loaded log truck. For a sports car, not so good.

Curious on the recall of the iron calipers. What was it exactly, and what did they replace them with.

I guess I better find out if I have any outstanding recalls on my car.

And yes I also have a non-posi with the rear disk set up.

None. You had to wait for the PBR setup in 1989.
