Bare w/ me, multiple Qs...
I'm tryin to ascertain the originally exterior paint scheme of my '86 Z28. Right now it's monotone bright red; the previous owner tried for an IROC-Z clone. Anyhow, I have the following RPO codes and the results from when I plugged them into the decoder on the main site:
18A : STRIPE COLOR, ACCENT, SLATE GRAY (91)
19Q : MOLDING COLOR (BLACK)
6ZW : SPRING, COMPUTER SELECTED, FRONT, LEFT HAND
72W : TRIM COMBINATION, VINYL, DK CARMINE (W)
8NL : COMPUTER SELECTED REAR LEFTHAND SPRING
82B : TRIM COMBINATION, CLOTH, MED DK GRAY (91)
82I : INTERIOR TRIM, MED DK GRAY (91)
Unable to locate code 82P in our database!
829 : SEAT BELT COLOR, MED DK GRAY (91)
84U : PRIMARY COLOR, HAWAIIAN ORCHID (92)
Now, through searching about this, I now know that 84U in '86 means grey, but just what kind of grey? I've read that it means medium grey, but I also read it means gunmetal grey. Are they one and the same?
The codes 18A, 82B, 82I, and 829 all have (91) after them, so what do they correspond to for an '86 model? Are the stripes referred to w/ 18A the 3 colored stripes that go directly above the gfx?
What molding does 19Q refer to? The bumper guards that run along the side of the car near the crease point half-way up the door panels?
What does 82P mean?
If my exterior color is either medium grey or gunmetal grey, then what color would my gfx be?
I also have these codes:
B84 : ORNAMENTATION, EXTR MLDG, B0DY SIDE
B9K : ORNAMENTATION, B/S MLDG, REAPPLY TO RR DOORS ONLY
B94 : ORNAMENTATION, EXTR EMBLEM, BODY, VAR I
B97 : ORNAMENTATION, EXTR MLDG, LOWER ACCENT
D88 : DECAL, STRIPE, SPORT
The extra molding the B## codes refer to, are these just the gfx? And what extra emblem does B94 refer to?
What decal/stripe does D88 refer to?
Ok, that's all for now, thanks ahead of time. I want to restore this car to its original specs, as far as appearance goes (under the hood is a different story).
