92 pontiac trans am, honest opinions

I looked at the sweetest black T. A. I've ever seeen! it's awesome and I want it really really bad. the dealership wants $6900 but I can probobly get it for $63-6500. I think it's a 305, but I didn't look. 1992, 94,000mi. automatic. hard top. The paint is fading and I found a run in the clear, which lets me know it's been repainted, but only in it's early days, cause it's fading. Let me know what you guys think I should do....

Are these good cars? Is there anything besides a base model for T.A.'s? Problems these cars are prone to have? Rust?

I think that price is way to high...

You should be able to find a car like that for no more than $4000.

pricey

yes, that price is wayyyyy to high I got lucky and picked up a 1990 Trans Am GTA 350 leather 98,000 miles new paint locally for $2500, but the guy needed money fast so I got lucky. That car is worth no higher than $4000 but I wouldn't pay more than $3500 maybe a little higher, just my .02 cents. the lowest price on kelly blue book was $2225 next was $3380 and highest was $5060 with 305 all in good condition add about $330 for a 350.

That is too high to pay, plus it is at a screw-you-over dealership.
Keep looking the good deals are out there.

Yes, thats waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, too much. Prices haven't been that high for a car like that for 5+ years. For 6,900 you should be able to find one with a 350 and under 50,000 original.

wo I feel lucky. Picked up an 89 Formula 350 with 102K and a dash that was not cracked for $800.

wow, well that's what I figured. You guys did get some good deals on your t.a.'s... while I just get scammed. lol. I'll probobly go up there on friday for ****s and giggles to test drive it, and look it up and down. now that I know what the price SHOULD be, I'll talk to the guy and let him know what's up.
Are there any problems with rust on these 92's?

No more problems with rust than other thirdgens. My car is originally from Jersey, so the underside is pretty rusty. It's all surface rust but it's there. I got my TA fro 7k in 2000 with 57,xxx miles on it.

for almost 7 g's you could find a rather nice 4th gen Z. Talk him down to about 3-4 or just leave in my opinion.

i agree with the rest, that price is out-a-line but cash talks they most likely got it for 1500.00 or less so offer some cash say 2800.00-3500.00 max.....remember that is the last year of a sexy body and now that we dont have the f-body anymore they are tryin to capitalize on that fact....

the guy I talked to said that he's been workin there a month and no one's even noticed it! so, does that mean that it's gonna be easy for me to find one for sale down the road? Maybe I should just worry about my berlinetta.

I'll take some pics of it when I go down there tomorrow.

I definitely won't be getting it :(

I test drove it today, and it was pretty cool. It felt alittle beat up, everythin was rattling and parts were moving around, especially one of the two exhaust pipes. it was a 305 tpi and it was a dog. I floored it from a stop and not even a squeek. he dropped the price to $5400 cash. ha. I told him I'd give him $3000 cash for it since he probobly only paid $1800 for it, but then he tells me that it was a trade-in so probobly alot less. He was stiff about the $5400, what a ripoff. These small town dealerships will have a high price cause they know someone's dumb enough to pay for that and plus they don't have to sell it, they can keep it forever.
I'll just worry about my camaro
